We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzmen Johns and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazzmen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When my husband Mike and I meet 18 years ago he had this innovative way of taking me out on dates. He would tag along with local fishermen and sell what he caught throughout his neighborhood. As time past this was something we started to do together. And with my mind geared more to entrepreneur endeavors, I started thing why turn this into something incredible. We have been in operation for 5 years now.

What should our readers know about your business?
Snapper Mike’s is dedicated to providing fresh locally caught seafood to our community. We harvest some of the products we carry, as well as work with other local fishermen. What makes us stand out from other seafood markets is that we specialize in showcasing the diversity of Florida’s seafood. By providing multicultural delicacies that have been introduced to our native eco system. We are proud and excited about how we have been received over the years, it make us so happy when customers are please with our products. And see the hard work we put into sourcing and maintain the quality of the seafood we provide.
Snapper Mike’s is getting ready to enter into its 6th year. Now, as most business owner know it’s not easy growing a business but, we have definitely loved the climb. Mainly because we are “Glass is always half full” type of people. Which I think is key in running a business, with each failure being an opertunity to grow. If you can’t recognize what is not working and make that change, that will be your down fall.
I want the world to know if they want to turely experience the diversity of South Florida’s seafood, that is to experience Snapper Mike’s.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first take them to Snapper Mike’s of course, lol. Then maybe check out Fort Lauderdale Beach, The Daina Improv, The Hard Rock, and maybe Yellow Green Farmers Market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Snapper Mike’s biggest support has come from our customers. Most have been with us since we opened, becoming like family.
