We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanette Balayla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeanette, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My journey towards establishing my own business was rooted in my innate passion for listening and helping others. From a young age, I possessed a natural inclination to lend an ear and provide support. This desire to contribute positively led me to pursue a master’s in family therapy, with the aspiration of crafting something that would not only grant me personal fulfillment and financial stability but also allow me the time to give back to the community.

The path of an emerging therapist, however, is strewn with challenges. Engaging an audience in open, vulnerable conversations that lead to growth can be daunting. The truth is, therapy can be intimidating. It was this realization that motivated me to establish Full-Time Human. Regardless of labels, perceptions, or self-doubt, within the realm of my therapy space, individuals find solace, acceptance, and a genuine sense of being human.

My vision was clear – to create a brand that resonates universally. Full-Time Human is not just a name; it’s a sanctuary for forging connections, discovering community, embracing well-being, and embarking on a journey of self-improvement. This was my driving force – to build a haven where everyone, no matter their background or experiences, could find their place to thrive.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Full Time Human, LLC. embodies a compassionate therapeutic practice focused on personal growth. We’re a mother-daughter team offering various services to individuals, couples, families, and organizations, all aimed at nurturing mental and physical health.

What’s most fulfilling is working with my mom while helping others build healthy relationships. My journey involved hard work, family support, and balancing education with a full-time job. Additionally, I have been teaching and mentoring others since high school, and I have always thrived in leadership roles, driven by my dedication to others.

Through my education journey—bachelor’s and master’s degrees while working full time—I’ve uncovered strengths I didn’t know I had. Overcoming challenges has shown me my potential. I’ve learned that being “human” is the label that unites us all, embracing our uniqueness.

At Full Time Human, we champion the “Whole Human Approach.” We see people as intricate beings connected by consciousness and relationships. This guides our commitment to holistic well-being and celebrating individuality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Florida is a treasure trove of hidden gems waiting to be explored! Living near the Hard Rock Guitar, that’s a definite must-see spot. The iconic guitar-shaped structure is a unique sight to behold. Taking friends to the Wynwood Arts District, Brickell City Center, and the vibrant Las Olas area promises a blend of art, shopping, and urban excitement. Not to mention the allure of the Fort Lauderdale Beach for some sun and relaxation.

Fort Lauderdale offers a dynamic scene, and places like Rhythm and Vine are perfect for nights out with friends. And a cultural culinary journey is a fantastic idea! With diverse options like Venezuelan, Mexican, Japanese, Thai, and other traditional cuisines, which reflects the rich tapestry of flavors in the region.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My story starts right at home, with my family. We all know how parents shape us, right? I’ve seen it not just with my clients, but in my own life too. My mom, Doris, raised me and my sister single-handedly. She’s like this powerhouse of love, strength, and spirituality, always there with a helping hand. My dad, Eddy, he’s got this knack for reflection, totally defying those ‘divorced dad’ stereotypes. He’s been my rock through thick and thin. My sister, Gaby, has been my partner-in-crime since we were kids. We’ve grown together, challenged each other, and she’s my best friend. And then there’s my husband, Eduardo. We’ve been on this rollercoaster together for almost a decade. Through all my crazy career shifts and bright ideas, he’s been my cheerleader, keeping me positive no matter what.
