We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenn Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is having a consistent relationship with my “tribe,” and keeping them in mind when creating my content. What most call their target audience I call my “tribe” because although I’m educating and sharing my experience with beauty, elevating my image and womanhood, it’s something we all have in common! I make sure to respond to my comments and messages, answer questions and even do “Subscriber Request” videos so they feel heard and apart of my journey. My true desire is to build a community where I’m just as committed to learning from them as I am to delivering valuable content.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is giving women quick beauty, fashion and lifestyle tips to elevate their image and brand. What sets me apart is my approach- I deliver fun and educational content while being vulnerable about my journey as a woman and mother. I think it’s so important to use this opportunity to connect so we can embody true beauty from the inside out.
I’ve been a cosmetologist for 8 years now, performing hair, skin and makeup services. I’ve been fortunate enough to be apart of the beauty industry at corporate level, so not only do I have artistic insight but also a business professionalism approach that can translate to almost any industry. Stepping out to bring my content to social media has definitely been a challenge. You have to work hard to create a genuine connection to people you can’t touch or see in person. I’m also a one-woman-show right now, so it takes a lot of time to create high production content that’s valuable but also engaging. Balance is SO key!
The biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is doing the research (understanding what your “tribe” is searching for vs. what’s trending) and be consistent. Without those two things, my tribe doesn’t have a clear understanding of what I truly do for them, and I’m not showing up.
I want the world to know that although there are many facets to my brand, its core is founded on embracing beauty from the inside out, and living life authentically. The world needs you!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d HAVE to have breakfast at The People’s Kitchen! They have the most unique foods and they may have mimosas now? Great way to start the day. Then we’d spend time shopping, seeing a movie and have dinner at Carrabbas. I’m a pretty simple girl for the most part who definitely needs to explore her city a little more lol.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shout out first to God, because He’s really helped me navigate this adventure and given me true purpose. I’d also like to dedicate this to my beautiful daughter, Merci; my parents, my cousin Sha’Meca Latai’, my “Root Coach” and motivator, and my Beauty Besties!
