We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Ackrish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to engage in meaningful Psychological work in a beautiful therapeutic setting. I also wanted to have the flexibility to attend important events, appointments and vacations with my family.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a Psychology Practice in East Fort Lauderdale. I specialize in treating individuals challenged by depression, anxiety, eating disorders and chronic/serious medical issues. I have created a beautiful and calming therapeutic space where my client’s can feel safe to process their emotions and feel safe to be vulnerable. One thing that sets me apart from others is that I am very hands on with my business. I answer all of my own calls and do all my own scheduling to ensure that my clients have a healthy experience with the least stress possible. I got to where I am today by cultivating and growing relationships with other health care providers in the community and by providing quality care to my clients. Building the business was not easy. I was starting from scratch and I had growing pains along the way. I overcame the challenges taking excellent care of each client I had and healthfully pushing myself to connect with other medical and mental health providers in the area. I would want the world to know that I am a Psychologist that takes great pride in my work. I am truly passionate about helping others and lessening their suffering.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived and practiced in Fort Lauderdale for over 5 years. If someone was in for the day I would probably take them paddle boarding or kayaking, then to relax and swim at Fort Lauderdale Beach and then to S3 for dinner that night. It is my favorite restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Their Sushi chef is incredible and they offer a large variety of delicious, small plates.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents for supporting my financially and emotionally during my many years of education. My mentor Dr. Micah Price for showing me how to successfully run a Private Practice. My husband for continuing to believe in me and my ability to build a successful practice when I was struggling to believe in myself. My Nanny Yesenia. She takes fantastic care of my two young children and my household while I am working which allows me to give my undivided attention to my clients and practice when I am at the office.
