We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Altieri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance becomes achievable when you let go of the idea that the scales are balanced out all of the time. That is not an achievable goal. Work life balance in my opinion and in my life is a scale that moves up and down as needed in the moment. It’s a very personal scale and there are not any hard and fast rules that everyone needs to follow. It’s best to look at what works for your schedule and lifestyle and create realistic expectations that you can remain flexible with. I have a family first value that is important to me so when I’m needed to be there for a family member I’m going to be. During those times if I have to cancel a work appointment I will do so. I’m also adaptable. I’ve been known to get a newsletter written while sitting in the hospital or taking a call from the hospital parking lot. As women I think we naturally balance many different areas of life gracefully. On the other side of the scale my family knows when I’m getting ready to run a new coaching program that program will take up much more of my time and energy because it’s new and they know to expect that. It’s a give and take where communication and flexibility are key to balance.

As founder of Hope Inrheart Life Coaching for Women I offer Weekly Gratitude Gatherings as the focal point of my coaching practice. What sets this virtual group coaching model apart from others is that rather than focus on what needs to be fixed or what needs to change we focus on gratitude. That’s not to say we pretend everything is wonderful when it’s not, we keep things very real in Gratitude Gatherings. Witnessing and holding space for each other while honoring all our feelings is essential for transformation. I’m very proud of the women who come together each week in our safe space as we do the work of transformation together. I’m excited to share the newest Hope Inrheart program – Hope & Horses. This coaching program is in person working hands on with horses because horses can change your life! As women juggling so many obligations sometimes we can get lost or stuck along the journey of life. Horses are experts at helping humans move forward. Working together with horses to coach women is the next natural step on my own journey. Before becoming a life coach I worked professionally in the horse business for twenty years. I left the horse business to dive into my own personal development work and after experiencing life changing results I knew I wanted to become a life coach my self and help women reach the same results I achieved. I couldn’t be more happy to bring horses back in as the magnificent natural teachers that they are.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots to bring visitors is Morakami Japanese Gardens. It’s so beautiful and peaceful there. For lunch we would definitely hit Gourmet Killer Dogs Restaurant in Delray. They have a great vegan menu and the best french fries you will find anywhere! Of course no visit to South Florida would be complete without a visit to the beach. All our beaches are beautiful so it doesn’t matter which one you visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so much gratitude for my Mom and my Husband. They deserve a lot of credit for the ways they support me. My Mom has been a role model of success and kindness my entire life. My marriage has grown into a beautiful partnership that I’m very proud of where we support each others goals. It makes life much easier when you know you can count on your family to be there for you.
