We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Ferrara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Most people are easily discouraged, and ready to give up, once they experience failure. They expect everything to go well and that there will be no mistakes. Now, this is of course not the case. We feel like a bubble just burst, and if we get negative feedback, this too can lead to wanting to give up. Now I think this is wrong if you went through all the trouble to” let’s say” open up a t-shirt store, but the t-shirts did not arrive on time for the grand opening or something. what if no one shows up? well don’t just give up, this is where you need to brainstorm. Look at what went wrong and use it as a learning experience on what not to do next time. Look at it as a challenge instead. They say nothing in life is just handed to you, and that is very true, you need to learn your craft well before you master it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am an Event Planner, I started my business in 2018 after having a friend ask me to notarize her marriage license, I said no, She deserved a real wedding. I told her I would get ordained and perform a real ceremony. A woman sitting near us asked me to perform her ceremony, and I gladly accepted. I botched it the first time. The client shared requested information for a bilingual ceremony, there was no Mic, even though it was promised. I learned a valuable lesson, 1. to be realistic with my expectations, 2. Prepare for the unexpected,
3. Be clear about your task and potential outcome.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
