We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Salokar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, have you had any interesting or funny online dating experiences?
I actually met my current boyfriend on a dating app! We’ve been dating for a year and a half and still going strong. Dating apps are fun, you just have to go in with an easy going mindset and think “well, maybe I’ll find something, maybe I won’t” if you do it for fun and not seriously you’re more likely to have a better out come! Some of my most fun memories with my girlfriends involves swiping through dating app profiles being all judgey together.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m so proud of how far I’ve come as a photographer! My work hasn’t been easy, from dealing with crazy clients, let downs, disappointments, moving to a new city, and starting all over again. It’s been difficult but I’ve had a lot of fun with it along the way! I’m finding my own nitch and loving my current edits and photos! I take portraits for all sorts of people and animals, any smiles I capture I’m in love with! I take all natural light shoots and do simple edits on top and they come out beautifully.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I moved to Orlando almost two year ago now and there are so many exciting things up here! Downtown is absolutely gorgeous, and you must go to the lake Eola Farmers Market on Sunday mornings. That’s by far one of my favorite things to do. We also have the best burger place down the street, Teak Neighborhood Grill. Also the yummiest sushi place, Tokyo Sushi and Best Shabu Shabu for pho! For outside things to do, parks are my favorite. Bill Fredrick park is the biggest prettiest park with huge oak trees and disc golfing; we always have a blast there. Of course we have Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld as well which is a blast!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Malloy Taines with NotSoUsual photography taught me all my hardcore photo skills. She’s definitely my inspiration! Also my dad, Michael, for always supporting me in anything I set my mind to.
