We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeymarie Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeymarie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was at a transitional point in my life, knowing I wanted to continue in private practice but also desiring the flexibility to shape my own business culture. I wanted to create an environment where we prioritize support, empathy, and community. Having more control over how we treat clients allowed me to build a space that feels inclusive, compassionate, and genuinely client centered.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Supportive Engagement, we strive to create a practice that fosters genuine compassion, support, and connection for our clients. What sets us apart is the culture we’ve built—our focus on holistic, preventive care that looks beyond surface-level solutions. We aim to create stronger support systems within families, helping children, teens, and adults feel loved and cared for in their family environments. Our ultimate goal is to empower individuals to break generational traumas and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the incredible team of clinicians I’ve brought together. It’s an honor to work alongside them as we create meaningful change in the lives of our clients. Our collective dedication to healing and supporting others has been a driving force in the success of the business.

However, getting to where we are today wasn’t easy. There were challenges along the way—from finding office space to establishing community connections. Risk-taking was essential; whether it was sending out countless emails or walking into doctors’ offices to introduce ourselves, every step was a calculated leap of faith. I overcame these obstacles by embracing the growing pains, staying consistent, and investing in personal growth through therapy and coaching.

The most important lessons I’ve learned along the way are the value of flexibility and the power of building relationships. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and I had to learn to be patient with the process. I’ve also come to realize that I can’t do everything alone. Supportive Engagement wouldn’t exist without the help of my team, business coach, and supportive friends, all of whom deserve credit for where we are today.

What I want the world to know about Supportive Engagement is that we’re more than just a therapy practice—we’re a community. We’re committed to helping individuals heal and grow, creating safe spaces for them to be seen, heard, and supported. Our story is one of resilience, passion, and a vision to empower individuals and families to create lasting change.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a week-long trip with my best friend, we’d keep things laid-back, focusing on relaxing, quiet spots with some amazing food. Honestly, it’s hard to pick just one place because there are so many hidden gems around the area that offer great vibes and delicious meals.

We’d probably start with a few local brunch spots—The Little Hen is a personal favorite with its cozy atmosphere and fantastic menu. I love brunches that feel intimate, where we can catch up, have long conversations, and enjoy a leisurely meal. We’d also definitely swing by Wynwood for a more laid-back afternoon, wandering around the murals and maybe grabbing a bite at The Taco Stand. Anything that feels chill, with a good meal and a beautiful setting, is where you’ll find us!

It’s hard to choose just one place, but the whole trip would revolve around good food, great company, and low-key activities where we can relax and enjoy each other’s presence.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support of my team—my dedicated clinicians, my business coach, and my supportive friends. They have all played an essential role in helping me grow both personally and professionally. Their encouragement, guidance, and belief in the vision we share have been instrumental in the success of our practice.
