Meet Joey Calderaio | Performing Artist & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joey Calderaio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joey, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance is very important to me. As a self-employed musician (who also works from home most days) it can be difficult to separate my work life from home life. I contact many of my clients through my phone and/or laptop, which I also use for personal reasons. It’s important to me that I set aside time for myself to disconnect from those outlets. My daily meditation and exercise routine are two ways that help me to disengage from work so that I can focus on me for a bit. Of course I fall into that work mentality every now and then – it can be difficult to put down the work at night, especially when I play later shows. It’s a constant work-in-progress. I just know that when my life is more balanced, I feel at ease and overall content.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is driven by my passion and love for spreading positivity through music. Music has affected my life in so many uplifting ways and I hope I can do the same for others through my music. I’ve had to overcome my own self-limitations along the way, constantly doubting my writing. I still struggle with it every now and then.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many amazing places to check out in South Florida. If my best friend was visiting I’d suggest first starting out the day with a cup of coffee from Common Grounds or Crux. I prefer the latte with a little cinnamon on top. Then I’dd head over to Papichulos for a delicious breakfast burrito. After that I might climb the Jupiter Lighthouse, a staple in the area. I might even heard to the beach for a little or snorkel under Cato’s Bridge. I’d then grab a drink at Square Grouper, enjoy the amazing view of the intercostal, and end the night with live music at Guanabanas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d be lying if I said this was a one-man-project. There’s been so much love and support during the lifespan of my career from family, friends, band members, and so on. The people I’ve surrounded myself with are also some of my greatest supporters. Also, the Joey Bag of Donuts group on Facebook has b\given me an endless amount of encouragement. It’s a place where I’m able to connect with my fans on a more personal level and establish stronger connections with them.
