We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Moukhtafi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was “It’s time to take care of my community the best way possible.” This has been my dream since graduating chiropractic school. I wanted a place where Mom’s, kiddos, and families felt like they were heard and respected. Nothing is better than seeing a family thrive and know their quality of life has improved through chiropractic care. Seeing people’s health and well-being evolve is truly our WHY.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think one of the things that sets us apart is that the focus and center of our attention in the office is the FAMILY. When a baby is brought in, who is suffering from colic and digestive issues, you could imagine how much stress and overwhelming strain that is putting on the mother and father. Our focus is always that patient getting better and being the best version of themselves as God created them to be. But it’s beautiful the change you see in a mother’s demeanor and state from when she brought that child in to when we begin to see wonderful results. Now the baby is sleeping better, less fussy, and able to live a well life. These results carry over into the family and allows there to be an overwhelming peace that wasn’t previously there. Another thing that sets us apart is that we get to the core and the source of every patients issue. Relief is cool, but correction truly is better. We take a nervous system approach with each of four patients to make sure that their spines are in alignment so that the communication between the brain and the body is optimal. A healthy nervous system means you are FUNCTIONING, HEALING, and THRIVING to your highest potential. That’s our focus with every patient. This transfers over into the family and allows there to be an overwhelming peace that wasn’t there before. Or what about a mom who is a few weeks from delivery and her baby isn’t in the correct position??? So she’s worried about the development and health of her child and her desired delivery. With just 4 specific adjustments, her baby was able to turn face down and be in the OPTIMAL position. Baby is able to grow and develop because they have the room and space they need and mom is now at peace knowing her child is safe and she will get the desired birth that she always wanted. What some may see as miracles or impossible is now the norm in the office.
We definitely had to go through some challenges. The idea and vision started just weeks before the whole country was in panic mode. It wasn’t easy and getting a team to launch this company really took time. But the vision, will, and drive were all there, and we’ve made a name for ourselves when it comes to the pediatric and perinatal realm.
One lesson I’ve learned along the way is that “Delay is not denial.” God’s timing is perfect and to really get to the mountaintop you have to go through the valleys. That’s where you’ll find all of life’s lessons. It has allowed me to be more in the present and truly live in the NOW.
What I want the world to know is that our bodies were made to do amazing things. Never underestimate your true potential. The stuff we see in our office is amazing and mind-blowing. Even going on my fifth year of practice, I’m truly in awe when you hear people’s life stories and then see what potential they were able to achieve when their bodies are in true BALANCE!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow! That’s a loaded question. I’d like to take them to the beach. We’re about 20 minutes from the beach and we all know Florida has some of the best beaches in the country. It’s hot, so we’re probably grabbing some ice cream on the Deerfield Beach Pier. South Florida is always hot. So we’re probably gonna head over to one of these cool craft breweries in the area. We’ve got a local mall here in the area, Promenade, where you could enjoy a night of good food and quality drinks. It’s a cool amount of restaurants all packed in an outdoor mall. Also, a great place to people-watch. That’s a fun activity for me. I’d probably also take them to my home town of Miami just so they could experience the wonderful culture and beauty that Miami has to offer. If they’re staying with me, I’m busting out the charcoal grill. My steak, as of late, has been awesome. My wife can attest. And I’ve had some wonderful steak in my life. If they’re staying on a Sunday, I’d invite them to church because I really think our church is wonderful and made up of a lovely community of people who love to serve.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people I would love to recognize, but I’m going to shout out my wife because she’s the most important. She knew my dream and she heard my vision and through her and God’s grace, we were able to open up True Life Chiropractic and impact the lives of many. She also brought me a beautiful baby boy in March named James Elias Moukhtafi. I’ve been blessed to learn from such great mentors and I continue to learn and grow from them. I think as an entrepreneur, you have to always be open to new ideas and be willing to grow and evolve. We’re willing to do that if that means more families will be impacted through chiropractic care.
