Meet Jonathan Vargas | Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being artistic and creative brings peace, love and happiness to my life. I am able to be me and feel comfortable in my own skin.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started making films around 2013 when I was in college. I was always a fan of cinema and I felt I could be a storyteller in that medium. I started doing shorts for a few years until I started working on my first feature back in 2020 called “Negativity”. I feel what sets me apart from others is my passion and determination for what I do. I don’t see filmmaking as a hobby or just a job. It’s my way of life. Its what keeps me going as this business is not easy. You will get rejected and criticized by others, but its something that doesn’t bother or distract me. I’ve been through enough hardship in this life that I won’t let a bad day stop me from making movies. I’ve learned so many lessons in these last 10 years. I’ve learned how to be less selfish and accept filmmaking as a team effort and what I want the world to know is my feature film “Negativity” is available to watch right now on Amazon Prime Video”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would recommend they go to Wynwood if they are in the miami area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to the entire cast and crew of my feature film “Negativity”. We film that project back in 2020, during the height of Covid. They did an amazing job on that project and deserve all the praise and recognition in the world. The film is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
