We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonia Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonia, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Risk are essential, I believe a lot of people are afraid of risk because of the possibility of what if it all goes wrong but seriously what if everything goes right?

Taking risk has played a huge role in my life. I was always the black sheep I never wanted to do what my family and friends were doing. I was never afraid to be different so I could create different results.

Another thing my business has taught me is to be patient, be disciplined and always stick to your goals no matter how unmotivated you may be that day. With wins comes every loss and that’s okay. Everything is a learning lesson, don’t be afraid to fail because that just means now you’re even more prepared for the next time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a REALTOR®, it was not easy to get to where I am at today. From failing my test multiple times over 4 years I was extremely determined to never give up. I knew that God was doing this for a reason even if I didn’t know what that reason was.

I most proud of my resilience, I bring that into my every day life. I don’t let ANYTHING stop me from reaching my goals no matter what I’m facing.

I am truly a people person and I love to help others. Prior to real estate I was an Insurance agent and would deal with heartbreaking stories all day. I always wished I could help them more than I was able to. Now getting into real estate I get to connect and assist people in the most emotional transaction they’ll probably ever go through. It’s so rewarding to hand someone their keys, so rewarding to get their guard down after being let down by so many previous agents. I truly feel like I am a breath of fresh air for them. I pride myself on being transparent instead of selling them lies.

What I feel like sets me apart is I’m not afraid of not knowing something because it gives me an opportunity to figure it out for my clients. I’m not pretending to be the “best” or “perfect”. Im not pretending that I know everything but one thing I will say to my clients is if I don’t know something I will sure go figure it out.
Another thing that would set me apart from others is I’m extremely hungry and want to provide the most amazing experience for my clients. They should feel like superstars no matter what they’re buying, selling or renting.

One thing I can say is Real estate is not easy what so over but nothing easy in life is worth it and if it was easy everybody would be able to do it. (Wise words from my boyfriend)(He tells me that all the time haha)

Getting over challenges requires faith and patience honestly just knowing that everything will work itself out has given me such confidence to attack any challenge with my head held high.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First we would have to go to the Fort Lauderdale beach or Wolfe lake park

As for food I would take her to one of my favorite restaurants called YOLO they have amazing food and even better drinks

Jaxson’s ice cream is amazing
& I love Birria tacos so we’d have to hit up pinkys tacos

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I have to thank God. He pulled me out of my dark times, my struggles and pushed me to continue to become a better person no matter what I was facing . Without my faith in him I could not be anywhere nearly as close to where I am at today.

Secondly my Boyfriend, my brokerage Keller Williams Central and my mentors, for constantly believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself, pushing me to become better, watering into me and keeping my head on straight when I was not motivated. Always pouring words of affirmations into me and showing me that there’s always a way out.

Lastly there are so many books I owe my success too, like Becoming supernatural by DR Joe Dispenza, Becoming more by John C Maxwell, Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill and so many more. I truly love self growth books and the knowledge they provide me.
