We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorge L. Feliz Del Rosario and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jorge L., can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. I was born into a military family which fostered my passion for law enforcement. My journey began at the Pontificia Universidad Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic, where I studied law. After moving to the United States in 2009, I graduated from DeVry University with a bachelor’s degree in Justice Administration, specializing in Homeland Security.
Upon graduation, I was grateful to join the New York City Police Department, serving the Bronx community for two years. My career then led me to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, a rewarding experience that continues to offer daily learning opportunities.
While in Fort Lauderdale, I established the first Hispanic Police Officer Association, known as “FLHPOA”. Our mission at the FLHPOA is to foster a strong bond between the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and our local community.
At the end of the day, my primary goal is to protect, serve, and build meaningful relationships with the community I proudly serve.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a passionate police officer in the vibrant city of Fort Lauderdale, the community engagement and safety top my everyday motivation. I am immensely proud of initiating the first Hispanic Police Officers Association in our city, which aims to strengthen communication and actively address community concerns.
Immigration into the United States opened doors leading me from humble beginnings as a dishwasher to obtaining a bachelor’s degree in justice administration with a concentration in homeland security. Subsequently, my career advanced from the New York Police Department to my current role in Fort Lauderdale. My journey symbolizes that hard work and dedication can make the American dream achievable.
Despite challenging obstacles, my belief in divine providence and resilience saw me through trying times. The insurmountable struggles have prompted a truism; the toughest battles are given to the strongest soldiers.
Reliance on faith and consistent efforts form the foundation of lasting success. Embrace grit and persistence, regardless of how challenging situations become.
God bless America

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Salute to an inspiration, my mother – Rosanna M. Del Rosario Bobea My mother has been my guiding force. Her journey and achievements had a profound impact on my upbringing.
• Trailblazing lawyer: She was the pioneering lawyer in our family, symbolizing ambition.
• Progress to Inspector: Her dedication earned her the role of Inspector at the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
• Accomplished Judge: She further broke the mold by becoming the youngest female Judge in San Cristobal.
I am cognizant of the responsibility that comes with being her son, and I strive each day to make her proud.
