We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorge Polo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jorge, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Staying focused is challenging, especially with the social media world and countless opportunities around us. But, I would say staying focused will lead you to be successful. Having a short term goal and a long term goal keeps your brain in focus mode.

Consistency is key. When you start a new business venture the best way to make it is to have the discipline to keep moving. I don’t necessarily believe in routine for myself, but every day I wake up and say what do I need to do for today to be a success? Even the smallest tasks add up to my ultimate goal of reaching more people.

And of course, finding time to do whatever makes you happy. Fishing is my “therapy” and an opportunity to decompress and reset before coming back to the daily grind.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
JYG Pro Fishing was started in the middle of a global pandemic. We have faced so many challenges along the way. From production, logistics, increased pricing of raw materials just to name a few. However, providing our stores and customers new and fresh products is our most important challenge to overcome.

As an engineer I don’t ever stop creating. when I see something that I like, I always think how to make it better. JYG Pro Fishing’s mission has always been to create a community of likeminded fisherman that believes in this new, crazy style of fishing – Slow Pitch Jigging. Our main focus is to create original, unique products that keep the jigging community excited and push the limits of what’s possible.

This same community took our where we are today. Our hope is to keep doing this for as long as we can and revolutionize this way of fishing. To do this, we want to make it available to new communities around the world, in any body of water.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
With two young kids our social lives are limited, but I would highly recommend a trip to Juno Beach and the Pier. A great new spot for happy hour is the Topside at the Beacon – it overlooks the Jupiter Inlet and the famous lighthouse. Dinner at the Dive Bar is a must!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel very fortunate to have met many people passionate about fishing, more specifically Slow Pitch Jigging that definitely conditioned my course into this new experience. You can have a good idea but you always need a team around you to take it from good to great.

I always remember the first few stores that gave me a chance and carried my products before anybody knew about JYG Pro Fishing. As well as my first customers to trust the product and use them. They are a big part of my story and have influenced my most recent product launches. What makes JYG Pro Fishing special is taking feedback and making it a reality.

Last but not least, my wife and partner in crime, Robyn. She has been a part of this from day one and trusted that I could take my passion of fishing and make it my job. She has been able to take my dream and make it a recognizable brand and has dedicated countless hours to developing our marketing strategies and social media platforms.
