Meet Jose Virella | videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Virella and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jose, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I was in a safe job and filming videos on the side but scared to go full time after my passion. I took a risk but had to follow God’s calling for me, and it was one hundred percent worth the risk! Even though there was a risk, the reward outweighed the risk and I do not regret the decision that I made!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I was little, I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career. I used to film my family vacations, and I always enjoyed editing and creating family videos. At the time I was trying to figure out my calling or passion. I never knew anyone in the field of videography, and I didn’t even consider it a possible career path. I went to school to become a mechanic, but that was not truly my passion. As a mechanic, it was a way to make money, but it was not the meaningful work I desired. When my wife’s grandmother passed away, I realized that life is too short to work a 9-5 and not be happy with what I was doing. I started helping out in media at church and really enjoyed learning more about videography. Then I started working with my wife’s business and recording her ministry. I recorded a baby shower on my phone and edited the video and everyone confirmed for me that this was my calling. I was working on different jobs to provide for my family, but my heart wasn’t into the work I was doing. I knew that God was calling me to do more. I started watching videos and taking classes to learn more about videography and began to invest the money I had to build my business. I have two passions; ministry and to see small businesses grow. I started just by making videos on my phone for friends and family and now today I have a successful business filming weddings, promotional videos, private events, interviews, and music videos using a cinematic camera with professional equipment.
