If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
North Miami & Miami Best Friend Week: The Ultimate Itinerary
Day 1: North Miami Nature & Local Flavors
Morning: Start with a leisurely morning at Oleta River State Park. We’d rent kayaks or paddleboards and explore the winding mangrove tunnels. It’s so peaceful and beautiful, a true escape from the city hustle.
Lunch: Grab some casual, authentic Cuban food at Little Havana Restaurant (yes, there’s a good one in North Miami!). Their medianoches are legendary.
Afternoon: A stroll through the Ancient Spanish Monastery. It’s incredibly unique, like stepping into Europe, and makes for amazing photos.
Dinner & Drinks: Head to Kabobji for delicious Middle Eastern fare – their lentil soup and beef shawarma are amazing. Afterwards, we’d grab a relaxed drink at a local North Miami spot with a good patio if we find one, or just chill back at our place.
Day 2: Wynwood Art & Culinary Adventure
Morning: Dive into the vibrant Wynwood Walls. We’d spend hours wandering through the incredible street art, taking photos, and soaking in the creative energy.
Lunch: Explore the diverse food stalls at Smorgasburg Miami (if it’s a weekend) or grab some gourmet tacos at a trendy Wynwood spot.
Afternoon: Pop into some of the cool galleries and boutiques in Wynwood.
Evening: Dinner at KYU in Wynwood for a fantastic Asian-inspired wood-fired meal, then check out a a laid-back brewery like Cerveceria La Tropical or a cool bar like Gramps for some evening drinks and people-watching.
Day 3: South Beach Glam & History
Morning: Head to South Beach. We’d rent bikes and cruise along Ocean Drive, taking in the iconic Art Deco architecture and the beach scene.
Lunch: A classic South Beach experience: grab lunch at News Cafe or a casual spot right on Ocean Drive for people-watching.
Afternoon: Relax on the beach, swim in the ocean, or take a walk down to South Pointe Park Pier for beautiful views.
Dinner & Drinks: An upscale dinner experience at Joe’s Stone Crab (if it’s stone crab season!) or a lively spot on Lincoln Road. Later, if we’re feeling it, maybe a drink at a swanky hotel bar like at the Fontainebleau.
Day 4: Miami’s Hidden Gems & Waterways
Morning: A visit to Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. This place is stunning – a Gilded Age estate with incredible European-inspired gardens and architecture. It’s like a peaceful oasis.
Lunch: Head to Coconut Grove for a casual outdoor lunch at a spot like GreenStreet Cafe or one of the many charming eateries.
Afternoon: Take a boat tour of Biscayne Bay to see the celebrity homes and, if we’re lucky, get a glimpse of Stiltsville. It’s a unique perspective of the city.
Dinner: Explore the diverse dining scene in Coconut Grove. Ariete for a more upscale, farm-to-table experience, or something more casual and lively.
Day 5: Little Havana Culture & Flavors
Morning: Immerse ourselves in Little Havana. We’d walk along Calle Ocho, watch cigars being rolled, listen to live music, and soak in the vibrant Cuban culture.
Lunch: Authentic Cuban food at Versailles Restaurant – a Miami institution! Or a more local spot for a cafecito and a pastelito.
Afternoon: Visit a local art gallery, play a game of dominoes with the locals, or just enjoy the lively street scene.
Dinner & Drinks: More Cuban flavors, maybe at a smaller, family-run restaurant, followed by a night of salsa dancing at a place like Ball & Chain or Mango’s Tropical Cafe in South Beach (worth the drive for the experience!).
Day 6: Adventure & Relaxation
Morning: An exhilarating Everglades airboat tour! Spotting alligators and seeing Florida’s unique ecosystem up close is a must-do.
Lunch: Casual lunch near the Everglades, or pack a picnic to enjoy in a park.
Afternoon: Back to North Miami for some relaxation. Maybe a visit to a local spa for a massage after all that exploring (gotta support the industry!).
Dinner: A different North Miami spot like Panya Thai for some delicious and authentic Thai food if we’re in the mood for something different.
Day 7: Farewell Brunch & Last Bites
Morning: A relaxed farewell brunch. Perhaps Morgan’s Restaurant in Wynwood for a delicious, hearty brunch, or a charming spot in Coconut Grove.
Afternoon: Depending on flight times, we could do some last-minute souvenir shopping, or revisit a favorite spot for one last coffee or treat
