Meet Joy Castañeda | Video producer and video editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joy Castañeda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The decision to start my own business came from realizing that I had the ability to do so. I worked for several years with TV networks and video production companies, and along the way I discovered that I wanted to do the same—but with more creative freedom. I wanted to be able to contribute from the initial idea all the way through to execution. That entire process fascinates me, and I wanted to be part of it all, not just one step of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel proud of the journey I’ve had so far. Fifteen years ago, I founded my own video production company alongside a very talented team. From the beginning, our goal was not only to create good and original ideas, but also to offer an unforgettable and enriching experience—both personally and professionally—for everyone involved: crew members, artists, clients, and collaborators alike.
We were part of a generation that helped shift the traditional work model. We came from a very strict school of production that shaped us into strong professionals, but we also believe in kindness and in giving opportunities to new talent. I think that combination helped us stand out in a different and meaningful way.
Another important thing I’ve learned is that after 15 years, the key to success is consistency and perseverance. I come from a country full of challenges and conflict, yet we were still able to achieve amazing things. One of those things was building a solid path that eventually allowed me to move to this country and earn my residency based on that career. Today, I’m proud to say that thanks to that trajectory, I’m part of incredible projects I never imagined I could be involved in.
What I’d like the world to know about me is that everything I do, I do with heart and honesty—towards myself and towards others. I give my all in every challenge, and when I’m on your team—or you’re on mine—you can count on full commitment, strong ethics, mutual respect, and a shared desire to grow.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think without a doubt, my first choice would be to show my best friend the lesser-known side of Miami, the one that, to me, makes the city truly special. The Pérez Art Museum is my favorite—not only for its stunning architecture but also for its beautiful surroundings. Another key stop would be the North Beach Bandshell, where we’d likely catch an amazing concert—they really make an effort to bring in incredible artists. The ICA in the Design District is also a fantastic option, followed by a walk through the neighborhood, which is full of art and style.
The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, with its Chihuly installations and tropical forest, is another one of my favorite places to explore and disconnect. And of course, for nightlife, I’d take them to Dante’s HiFi (Ma D Radio), which is my go-to for great cocktails and top-notch DJs. I’d also make sure we visit Little Haiti and Little Havana—two places that reflect how immigration has shaped the soul of Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe so much, first and foremost, to my parents. They were the ones who introduced me to the world of the arts, and from that moment on, I knew I wanted to be part of it. Later, in university, I found mentors who sparked my passion for cinema, art, and creation. And from then on, up until today, every person I’ve had the fortune to work with has contributed to my growth and learning. It’s beautiful to be in a career where you never stop learning.
