Meet Juan Carlos Anglero | Painter & wall designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Carlos Anglero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan Carlos, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my first business in NYC in 2008 at the age of 26, then I launched my second business specializing in premium hoodies in 2014, which ran successfully for 10 years. That same year, I bought an 1881 Victorian home in upstate New York. On weekends, I’d escape the city to renovate as much as I could myself, transforming and painting spaces was therapeutic. Over time, I had more frustrating experiences with contractors than good ones, which stood in contrast to the way I treated my own customers. When I moved to Miami to be closer to family, I started an interior painting business with the goal of combining my attention to detail, design background, and delivering a memorable experience to my customers.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I see painting and wall design as a form of art; each wall is a blank canvas. Transforming a space and making it peaceful is deeply fulfilling; it takes me back to my designer roots. I am currently experimenting with different techniques and finishes to propose to interior designers and customers. Finishes ranging from Venetian and Roman plaster, Chuckum plaster, microcement, rock walls, wallpaper and wood paneling.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I do this already to all my friends, I take them to the Rubell museum and walk around the Allapatah area, discovering galleries. Then I prepare a picnic and take them to Crandon Beach in Key Biscayne, the beach is gorgeous, has easy parking, and is peaceful. My favorite restaurant is “Salmon & Salmon” in West Little Havana, it’s small and inconspicuous, but the food it’s spectacular and not expensive, there’s a reason why it’s been open for over 42 years.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am truly grateful to have a strong circle of support around me, former business partners, investors, family, friends, and my amazing parents. Rafael and Lucero, who have trusted and believed in me and my work over the decades. I also want to give a special thanks to my mentors, Jonathan, Diana, and Ido at Precision Painting South Florida, one of the top painting companies in the US, who are guiding me through my projects and growth. Their support and experience in the painting industry are invaluable.
