We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Castaneda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our work is mission-based, so what moves us is passion, not money. That’s not to say that the financial health of our company isn’t essential; it just means that the projects we take on have to fulfill our souls.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Human Pictures is a project my partners and I have had since we were teenagers. We wanted to create a film company that served those whose voices go primarily unheard. Our greatest success has been to make it profitable enough to turn it into our life work. I want anyone who reads this to know that although it’s complicated, there are different business models that don’t necessarily require taking advantage of the least fortunate.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always end up taking everyone I know to Lagniappe.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe the biggest shoutout I can give is to my mom, who never held me back and always pushed me, even beyond my self-imposed limits.
