Meet Julian Wynter | Professional Swim Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julian Wynter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
During the pandemic, I was unfortunately laid off from my previous employer. I then had to figure out what my next option was going to be. During that time I noticed there was an increasing demand for private swim lessons. I had already been doing swim instruction and coaching for a number of years prior but the pandemic gave me the opportunity to brainstorm and come up with what eventually became Swimmers Elite.The thought process behind me starting my own business was a desire to create my own path and do something I love while making a difference in the lives of others. I felt that I had so much to offer in the world of swimming and I was confident that my program would stand out amongst the rest.

What should our readers know about your business?
Swimmers Elite started in November, 2020. We are a mobile swim company that travels to private homes and community pools. We are located in Broward County and travel all over the South Florida region. We specialize in one-on-one swim lessons with clients ranging from children to adults. Patience plays a huge role in the success we have had as a business thus far. That is one of the key elements that set us apart from others. Our approach has always been to establish comfort first. Then at that point we break every skill down step by step and naturally our clients progress overtime. We also are very creative in our teaching methods so we can provide an enjoyable learning experience.

I’m excited about Swimmers Elite becoming a household name in South Florida and to continue being an advocate for drowning prevention. It really fulfills me when we can help people overcome their fear of water and develop the confidence they need to be safe.

I am really happy with the growth that Swimmers Elite has experienced in the time that we have been around. None of that would have been possible if I didn’t have the courage to go through all the ups and downs as a brand new business owner as well as seeking guidance and mentorship from other business owners in and outside of my industry. Through trial and error I was able to find what works for me and developed a system overtime that has proven to be successful. To this day, I am still learning as I go along and always finding new ways to be as innovative as I can be.

I’ve definitely had my fair share of challenges along the way. Sometimes they are not always under your control. Different factors such as weather, illnesses, amongst others can affect the flow of the business in one way or another. However, I’ve found that using my time wisely to come up with new ideas on how to further enhance the business goes a long way. Having a good mindset when I face challenges helps me get through those difficult times.

Swimmers Elite has recently partnered with Crunch Fitness in Tamarac to provide swim lessons to all its members. We also conduct a Masters Swim Program there with swimmers from different swimming backgrounds that train together as a group. We design workouts weekly that cater to everyone’s individual goals. We are excited about our partnership with Crunch and the growth it has contributed to the business!

Our goal is to keep expanding and make a difference in the community one client at a time!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother definitely deserves some credit and recognition for getting me involved in the sport of swimming from a very young age. I never thought that it would take me this far! I couldn’t have done this without her support. My wife, Sasha, deserves some recognition for motivating me to pursue this as a career and gave me the confidence I needed to believe in myself and my abilities..
My mentors, Damion & Giselle who both own businesses were also instrumental in my development as a business owner. They gave me the guidance I needed in order for my business to be successful and sustainable. Since then I have become more knowledgeable and have used the skills they taught me still to this day.
