We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliana And Fernanda Chen / Macedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juliana and Fernanda, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Both I, Juliana, and my partner Fernanda consider ourselves great adventurers. Graduated in Architecture, I worked in several areas such as architecture, interior design, retail, trade and distribution of European and American products and finally developing sustainability projects. Fernanda, a graduate in Social Assistance, worked in hospitals, started her own business such as a clothing store and a restaurant, and as soon as she got married she went with her husband to live in China. In other words, our professional history has never been monotonous, it has always been marked by great adventures and new challenges. We consider this to be the biggest difference in our success: a varied experience and the courage to undertake. The idea of setting up a salon in the United States was no different… with a lot of humility, passion and dedication we began our business journey in the United States.

What should our readers know about your business?
The idea of setting up a salon came from the need for a salon with Brazilian characteristics, with a different, more personalized service, as well as a more cozy and charming environment. This has always been our differentiator, providing the customer with not just a simple haircut or a blowout, but an experience. We invest a lot of time and money to achieve this. Even though money was not plentiful in the beginning, we insisted on using only the best quality products, serving customers espresso, cappuccino, and snacks, and having highly qualified and trained professionals. We believe that all this investment had its return from the recognition of the quality of our services seen through the loyalty of our clientele, as well as the gain of new customers daily. We believe that the key to our success was to start with a lot of humility, learning every day about this market that was unknown to us until then and having, above all, a very clear mission: to bring warmth, comfort and self-esteem, making every client who enters the salon leave more relaxed and happy with themselves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would say stay at a beachfront hotel in Miami Beach, have brunch at Pura Vida, take a bike ride along the beach looking at the hotel pools, at the end of the day go have an Aperol with a watermelon salad at Call Me Gabby. Go to the design district and enjoy Doya’s happy hour. Watch a movie at the Brickell City Center and have dinner at Casa Tua. Visit an exhibition at the Museo Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum and then go for a coffee and carrot cake at Sagrado Cafe right across the street.Take a day to shop at the Sawgrass Outlet, have lunch outdoor at Villagio, then visit Blend Hair Boutique, which is 7 minutes away and take the opportunity to get a hair treatment and leave relaxed and even more beautiful.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We consider our husbands our biggest supporters throughout our process. Both businessmen and truly passionate about entrepreneurship, they were our great partners, giving us all the support, both technical, emotional and financial. In addition to our husbands, we consider that we (Juliana and Fernanda) were our greatest source of inspiration and learning for each other. Despite many points in common, which initially encouraged us to undertake together, we bring individual characteristics that complement each other and have added a lot to our business throughout our journey.
