We had the good fortune of connecting with Justine Osceola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Justine, how does your business help the community?
Made By Justine O helps provide our community with bath care aimed to include Mother Earth & intentional bathing. By choosing to include aromatherapy & intention in our bathing, we can influence the day. For example, by choosing Lavender herbal body oils, bath bombs or soap, we can create a calm shower routine to begin a busy day. We can reduce stress & anxiety by unwinding with a nice warm shower & aromas that lift our spirits.
Creating artisan soap bars that are unique & full of colors encourage our youth to establish a cleansing routine that is fun & exciting. When we can influence everyone to begin healthy self care routines…. we produce a confidence & self esteem that creates positive mental benefits.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being the artist I am today, definitely reflects my Seminole & Anishinaabe culture. I’m called to encourage healing beginning with prayer, self care & self love by providing herbs in many forms to get us going in that direction. It is through my own experience that I feel the need to share this knowledge and help supply the basics for others to begin a cleansing journey.
Our soaps reflect important medicine colors, plant allies, includes Mother Earth, the Creator & prayers. What also sets us apart from others is our soap is really purpose driven and intentionally made with aromas that help to motivate, calm or cleanse the physical & spiritual body.
You can create a bar of soap with me that reflects your favorite colors, flowers or aromas that you love.
Offering a unique shower experience…. We can customize herbal body oils & bars that cater to your skins requirements. Invoking your senses to natural smells & plant life. Alongside our body oils & soaps, we provide herbs in sachets to use for cleansing, prayer or aromatherapy. Sage, cedar, sweetgrass, tobacco & lavender are just some of the herbs we keep in stock to share its healing benefits. I feel called to work with a few herbs, I’ve picked Sweetgrass & Lavender a lot in my years… I keep the respect & prayer aspect of plant life so important to our products.
I’m also an Ordained Officiant/Ministress, so love is on the table in many ways. Ceremonies of all kinds can be done by booking with me. I love to encourage prayer & Mother Earth as our sanctuary so I combine my love of these into our products. I’m beginning to move into a new stage of my career focusing on motivational prayer talk & affirmations.
My journey to where I’m at today was no piece of cake, but I remain confidant in the direction Creator is taking my life.
Some of the challenges & lessons I’ve learned throughout my entrepreneurial journey is to speak up! Defend your knowledge & right to feel heard. This business has made me a more confidant & powerful woman and I LOVE it!
It’s definitely not an easy task starting your own business, but its worth it babe….& YOU CAN DO IT!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were to recommend something fun and exciting, I would definitely chose some outdoor activities in South Florida. Visiting our ocean, grounding & beach time are a must! Definitely visiting our Big Cypress Reservation with endless views of the Everglades, Nature walks & soaking up some Seminole culture. Finding Airboat rides, powwows and paying a visit to our Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum would be a top priority.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely a shoutout to my fiancé, Nick. Without his help & also my children, I believe we wouldn’t have formed such a smooth operation.
I would also like to thank magazines such as this one, that give us to opportunity to share our business & grow.
