Meet Katherine Bischoff | Faux Florist & Wedding designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Bischoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katherine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been a leader and entrepreneur, dreaming of bigger things, so when the idea of having my own business that could marry my personality, go-getter attitude and creativity came together, I knew that was it! The wedding and event business had always intrigued me, as I love to host events and entertain. I started my business with the idea that weddings/events should be full of love, joy, and celebration; not covered up by stress, debt and general exhaustion. In my opinion, the wedding/event industry should be based solely around customer service and care for the client themselves, all while remembering every single client is unique. So, when starting my business, I knew keeping the event planning process easy while simultaneously keeping the fun and excitement alive throughout would be, and still is, our main priority!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Katherine Bloom and Company, we offer wedding/event coordination as well as full design and decor specializing in Faux florals. Our coordination service goes above and beyond what the industry standard is for wedding coordination. We pride ourselves on being there for every want or need of our client ensuring their wedding day be the best experience, not only for the clients but their entire family, bridal party and guest list. When it comes to design and decor, we fully design every part of our clients’ events. Faux florals opposed to fresh florals allows us to make large scale luxury wedding decor obtainable for every client. All floral arranging is done as a fresh florist would; all arrangements are built and designed based on each individual event’s colors, styles, etc. We use high-quality florals that are so realistic, our clients and their guests are always shocked that our designs aren’t breathing! I love everything about this business, and am always saying I have the best job, because it is an absolute honor to be a part of our client’s best days of their lives! I left my corporate job, took my life’s saving and invested in myself and my plan. It was so exciting to be on this journey, but it was not without some rough and hard times. Starting a business is always going to be trying, inevitably bringing doubts, and I for sure am not exempt from those feelings. But I keep my faith in knowing that the sun will rise again tomorrow and we walk through life one day at a time. I have learned that being positive is a choice and we all have the option, no matter the situation. Even when things are really hard or overwhelming, choosing to step back and reflect on what there is to be grateful for will outshine whatever trial I am facing. I am extremely proud of where I am today, personally and professionally. I feel that my business has helped people have the weddings and events that allowed them to truly enjoy and celebrate the beautiful things in life and hope that we will continue to help so many more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living coastal in Florida leaves the possibilities of fun truly endless! I am a water lover, so anything from the beach to boating would be my first pick for fun. I love that Florida seems to have so many family-owned restaurants rather than large chains. One of my favorites on the water spots I like to take my friends and family to visit is Off the Hook in Ponce Inlet, especially after a long boat or beach day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs and visionaries, which means that they are always supportive, as we all have the “go for it” mentality. My mother was instrumental in the startup of my business, she taught me everything I know about floral design and encouraged me every step of the way, I truly wouldn’t have my business without her! I also have an amazing husband and two children that are my biggest cheerleaders, support system and free labor from time-to-time LOL. No, but seriously having my children and family be a part of my business has always been so important and instrumental in the growth of my business. I also cannot forget to mention, and thank, my amazing team; they make wedding days possible and keep up with my endless ideas and adventures. My faith has never wavered throughout the years and has definitely been the staple that kept me calm in some of the roughest storms we have seen. The Covid pandemic and the stop of all business being one of them, by the grace of God we are still here after one of the most trying times. I am beyond grateful!
