We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Bivins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk is inevitable to everyone’s life. I believe that taking risk will help you discover who you are, as well as give you the satisfaction of believing in yourself once you concur what you were pursuing. Taking risk is like going up on a roller coaster, waiting at the top to drop, and then finally falling. Now that could be a different feeling for everyone which is what makes it unique. What I consider risk, and what others may consider risk can be different. I believe that risking your last dime for a dream is considered a risk. Some may think that it’s just plain stupid. You see what i’m saying? Risk isn’t a general thing. Risk help mold me as a person. Helps me understand who I am and the power I hold. I feel so empowered when I accomplished something I took a big risk for.

Taking risk in my personal life and career has been the best thing that has happened to me. I’m willing to go that extra mile. I’m willing to still get things done even if I am alone and scared. That’s when I know something worth wild is to come from it.

I am bold because I take risk. I am confident because I take risk. And I am also fearless because I take risk. You can always take a risk and win or take a risk and fail. Either way, you can always get up and try it again.

Take more risk!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Licensed Esthetician here in South Florida. There are hundreds and thousand that do what I do here. I believe my character, integrity, and personality is what sets me apart. I have clients that drive over an hour to come see me. And this has been for years. I don’t have to be the largest spa in South Florida right now because I’ll get there. But what keeps my clientele as well as attracting new clients is how I make them feel. I believe in encouraging everyone you come in contact with. I believe that they should leave you better than they came to you. Not only appearance but internally. With this generation we live in, having social media and being apart of it is tough. We compare ourselves so much to people who aren’t really happy. Just appear to be. So I want to highlight something about themselves that I personally appreciate. People may not always remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

Being an entrepreneur isn’t easy by a long shot. You have days where you just cry because you’re doing all you could but things aren’t where you want them. You also have days where you get those wins that keep you going. If the dream isn’t inside of you, if you can’t physically see it, then maybe it isn’t for you. We have many gifts as human beings. It’s up to us to find them and grow within them.

One of my biggest lesson that I learned in business is don’t take anything personally, and only buy what the demand is for lol. I remember buying some facial brushes for over $1500 bucks and only sold $300 worth at the time. It took a me months to sell those thighs and it was tough lol. Also, learning not to take things personal can take you a long way. We’re human, we go through things, life happens, and sometimes it sucks. We cannot always think what others are going through is because of us. Because it is not.

The biggest thing I want the world to know about me is that I am a digger. I want to know what makes you feel good about yourself. What qualities you have that you’ve put away because you didn’t think much of it. I want people to know don’t disregard people because they haven’t yet reached the level of success that you have. Things can happen and change a persons life in an instance. Be supportive and it’ll come back to you in so many ways. I love when my clients tell me they’re proud of me. It makes my heart twinkle a bit. And it definitely makes me smile. I want the world to know that it is okay to be authentically you. Because there is only one you. Don’t duplicate another person. You’re too unique for that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I personally do not go out much in the city. I love Miami so I will always take them there. I live in West Palm Beach so it’s not much to do there. But when I do get them to Miami, the beach is the must and all of the strips along south beach is amazing.

Miami has museums, good music, and good people. It’s kinda hard to just go to one place there. It’s so much to explore.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is no one in particular that I would like to thank. Not because I want all the credit to myself, but because it took a lot of grit in me to get where I am today. Not only had I have to believe in myself when no one did, I also supported myself in every way.

Thank God for always keeping me when I wanted to give up or stop my dream completely. I mean, i’m still working on it and myself so there’s plenty of room
for me to thank people along the way. I am not finished yet.
