We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylee Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaylee, what principle do you value most?
A principle that matters most to me is Authenticity. Social media could be a very saturated market and I think that’s why it’s important to be as authentic and as candid as possible. There’s this pressure to be perfect and have it all figured out and I think it’s such a relief to see someone actually be themselves and admit that they don’t have all the answers. I think authenticity is what helps us build and maintain meaningful relationships.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Right now I currently work as a social media/community manager and I balance that with being a micro-influencer and freelancer for brands that may need help with their social media! I accidentally stumbled into influencer work while in college and realized that I loved to create content, once I graduated I decided to work in the social media field. Balancing it all could be a little tricky but I get so much satisfaction out of posting content that people could relate to and feel inspired by. Eventually, I think I would love to run my own social media marketing agency as well as a loungewear brand to pursue one of my other passions which are style and fashion.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ah! There are so many spots I would take them so let’s begin! I love staying active so I would probably start their day off early and go for a run at David t Kennedy park in the coconut grove or across the Key Biscayne bridge. In terms of eating I have so many good food stops, Forte by chef Adrienne, Paper fish, and CH’I have been my recent ultimate faves. Dessert at FD pies of course! I love getting drinks at Sugar at the East hotel, The Gramercy, and The wharf which is a great hang – out spot on Friday Nights!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my best friends, loved ones, and parents. I think they’re always there for me and pushing me to be the creator I am especially when I get discouraged!
