We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Gibbons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of TOCA Events is the incredible team of colleagues and collaborators that comprise the TOCA brand. Our core team is made up of highly talented, dedicated and responsive professionals that share a collective respect for each other as well as our vendor partners and clients. The sometimes stressful and time sensitive nature of our business requires a team that is fluid, can stay focused and problem solve on a moments notice. Additionally, over the past ten years TOCA Events has established vendor partner relationships across the US and abroad that enables us to service clients with the highest level of quality and service.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
TOCA Events is recognized internationally as a leading event design and production company. With offices in Miami, Boston, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro, Havana, Beijing and Lisbon, TOCA Events has the capability of servicing our growing clientele across the globe. We have had the great fortune of supporting a solid list of clients since our inception, with our first program ten years ago for JP Morgan in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I have learned a few key principles over the past ten years: be honest and transparent with clients; treat all staff and vendors like partners; responsiveness and loyalty are crucial; and you’re only as good as your last event.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My itinerary for a week in Miami would include a day one stroll through the Wynwood Arts District followed by lunch or dinner at any of the great restaurants bordering the Wynwood Walls. The next morning would consist of a drive down Ocean Drive and taking in some sun on the oceanfront stretch of SoFi and afternoon lunch and visit at PAMM to check out the current installations. And finally, a drive down A1A to Islamorada for a couple days of rest, relaxation, tennis and spa time at The Moorings Village would round out the week in South Florida.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Shoutout goes to Janis Heaney, formerly the head of meetings and events at Ameriprise Financial based in Minneapolis. Janis was the first client to recognize my potential for designing and producing high volume events on a national level, and selected my team over national industry leaders to produce their bi-annual National Conference. I am forever grateful for Janis’ validation, which inspired me with the confidence to build a national and international presence for the TOCA Events brand.
