We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenitra and Mo Hopkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenitra and Mo, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

This business venture all started on my 40th birthday. I rented a photobooth and had so much fun with it…my daughter, who was 9 at the time said, how cool would this be to have and I could host kid parties! Great idea…but then the Pandemic happened. Fast forward, it was then MO’s big 40th and again I found myself looking for a photobooth. We were still in the pandemic but things had started to become somewhat normal. After a few inquiries I kinda just said, if this is something we want to do, let’s just take a leap and do it!

So, in August 2021, we took the money that I was going to pay to rent one invested in our own booth and created what you see today…Pose it up, CLT! Since launching our first event in October 2021, we have successfully hosted over 80+ events, added 2 additional booths and hired a team!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Pose it up, CLT is a Charlotte based Photo Booth rental Experience company. We service all surrounding areas of Charlotte, North Carolina including areas such as Huntersville, Gastonia, Matthews, Concord and parts of South Carolina ie Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill.

We are MORE than a photo booth company, we specialize in not just making memories but creating a fully customized experience for our clients. They have options to get custom cards, signage, props, overlays, music, backdrops and much more! In addition, our team of Photo Booth Management Team will guide the experience from start to finish ensuring you and your guest have an amazing time with our booths, while creating memories that last a lifetime! We pride ourselves on providing quality and service, we are forever investing in our business as well as continuing to think of new and innovative ways to make it the BEST for our clients!

During our journey, we have had the absolute honor to work, host and be with in the room with some of the most amazing people, not everyone has a title or status…some of these amazing people are just people whose energy exudes good vibes. They love our services and provide us with encouragement and motivation to keep going! These are the moments that are so special because they don’t know you or your  story, but they SEE YOU!

We are most excited about the future of our business. We have plans of expansion and adding more fleet and unique services. We believe that a business will give back what you put in, for us that’s LOVE! We LOVE our business and clients! Everyday has not been easy, there have been hard days, days of tears, frustration, roadblocks and challenges! We still work full time jobs and juggle being full out “DANCE MOMS”! Do we get tired? YES!! But, through it all, never have we thought about giving up or throwing in the towel. That is how we know…WE LOVE DOING THIS!

A few of our biggest lessons have been that not everyone is not your client and that’s OK! Technology is an absolute blessing and a curse- but you knew that! Everything will not always go right, but you have a choice in each situation, to make the best out of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Honestly! We would likely have an event to host and would take them with us to show them what we do! Our clients have the absolute best parties and events!!

However, realistically, Charlotte in general has a lot, a visit to local museums and a few food places in the uptown area would be a go to!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Our 11 year old daughter, Krish, who is also a managing director of the business for her vision and entrepreneurial spirit!
