We had the good fortune of connecting with King Tetrus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi King, why did you pursue a creative career?
Peace and Blessings! Check Check – King Tetrus here! Why did I pursue the arts? In the most poetic sense – music has chosen me

I am currently in a 30 plus year love affair with hiphop! That same love became the catalyst for self reflection and understanding who I am. Music has always served as therapy and been the consistent source to feed my soul.

I lived my life as a corporate fraud – living for the weekend and on these mental vacations all I ever wanted to do was rap!

Making a record requires a level of honesty and vulnerability that I felt was vacant in my life and music changed that!

until death do us part – hip hop wears my wedding ring ( Thats a tetrus bar)

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally I have seen so many valleys and peaks ( Alexa please play – Work) I currently work as Recruiting Manager at Chewy.com ( no not the granola bars) I have been in HR/Recruiting for about 9 years now and the one thing I truly enjoy is no single day is like another and you’re truly helping people realize their true potential.

Even if its realizing you might be suppressing your own.

What I want the world to know is theres nothing more powerful than the human spirit and recruiting as is music is truly a people business. Its the interaction with others that drives our passion.

If anyone asked me what makes me, me. Passion and energy and that goes for all aspects of my life.

Also if any of co workers read this – mind your business lol

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is an amazing question! I have been the ring leader for debauchery my entire life so be prepared for regrets but the fun kind lol

ight here we go! Welcome to my city Miami – yes its true I live where yall visit but where I love to hang is slightly different than whats associated in pictures/ig. I spend most of my time in Wynwood Miami

1. first stop – absolutely have to hit pinolandia ! Nicaraguan fritanga ( think south american fast food , best food to eat if you know you’re going to go out & drink – 10/10
2. My new favorite day time hang out is Over Under – this is basically where everyone who looks like they work at Urban outfitters go ( tons of great music, energy, you might see everything from dirty air forces to someone wearing heels but the energy is amazing
3. Wood Tavern – HIP HOP – Open bar – no rules against smoking.
4. Coyo Taco – yes I know we just ate but if your tank is running low its an amazing place to stop in – fun fact theres like a 1930s style speak easy in the back that has some of the best dj’s ( Shoutout Spencer – he doesnt know me but I am huge fan)
5. PHUC YEA – it is Asian/creole fusion food – think SOHO but Miami with amazing DRINKS and food! They have the most amazing rap playlist and amazing energy

One thing consistent is my social life revolves around food and hip hop if a place has those then I am home!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow – this is my favorite thing to do ! I’d love to give credit to Miami Beatwave ( he just won producer of the year ) he helped craft my sound. I’d like to give credit to my brethren Rapper Voice familia ( Trendt, Trplz & Johnny Castro, Erick , David C, Garagesound , Tiny Talk, Shottie, Du. Ivan, Cashe, Mighty Heathly, H20, Draz) Every single one of these individuals have helped me become more comfortable with not only my sound but how to embrace the challenges associated with being a new artist.

We often forget that expression is only validated by the audience you share it with and I truly do not believe without their consistent approach I reach the levels I have been.

I’d like to also give a huge shoutout to my sisters and brother for introducing me to my first love – ( even though moms never knew u was giving me albums – thank you!)

Also huge shout out to the Uber Eats for supporting the late night grind – those are the real heroes!
