Meet Kira Abboud: Owner and Creative Director for Ava Giselle Collection

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kira Abboud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kira, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up in a single mom household, I didn’t get to see my mom a lot. I always told myself when I have children, I wanted to be there for them. Emotionally, mentally and physically. When I got pregnant with my daughter, I began to sew. I sewed so much until I had an entire collection. Soon after she was born (2015), I stopped working and was able to do my business full time and commit to motherhood.

What should our readers know about your business?
Me… I set me apart from others. When brands are small, People buy from people. They don’t buy because of the logo to flaunt. They buy because they see a woman in business working hard towards her dreams. I am very personable with my customers. I love a good dm convo and I write them notes. I am relatable, I utilize my social media platform to not only sell but educate women in business. I am proud to be where I am and help others. I feel like everything I did in life unknowingly prepared me for the position I am in today. From being into fashion at a young age, to working in retail, mall hours, going to college for accounting, and now it’s all being utilized daily in my business. Challenges happen everyday but that is what makes the journey. Getting rejected, having people not hold up their end of the bargain, going days without a sale, but I never gave up. It was a learning opportunity. It gave me the tools to approach situations differently. Be smarter next time or don’t do it at all. I want the world to know that I am thinking bigger picture. I want to be a household name. I want me to be the first person they think of when it’s time to get an outfit. Ava Giselle Collection garments not only compliment their silhouette but provides confidence. I want to offer the world a feeling.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is my little playground… Pool days at the Faena and finish with Low Key dinners are Prime 112 or Barton G Fun times are reserved for Baoli I love to visit museums and be in a creative space. Frost and museum of selfies has been my latest obsession
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughter, Ava Giselle. Thank you for coming into my life when you did. Allowing me to be your mother, but unknowingly you gave me the courage to start our business. All those sleepless nights of sewing and rocking my child to sleep paid off. I look at her and it makes me want to hustle harder so she can have the company one day and take it to new heights. I want to thank my husband for supporting my dream and encouraging me to follow it. Even though it was hard on us in the beginning, he saw the bigger picture. He believed in me. He pushed me. I am forever grateful.
