We had the good fortune of connecting with Kirk Gimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kirk, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I learned that after more than 23 years of being an on-camera journalist and executive producer, that I had all of the skillset needed to create my own brand with a clear focus on Latinos in English (and BIPOC overall).
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I founded Xizzle TV in 2021 to create a positive smart tv platform for Latinos in English. We produce lifestyle, entertainment, business and wellness content with the Latino and BIPOC community in mind. Our goal is to help tell our stories of success, motivation and inspiration alongside fun content from Disney, Universal Orlando, HBO and Grant Cardone. We want to provide true and positive representation.
Xizzle TV is a free smart tv app. You can download it for free on Roku, Samsung and Amazon Fire TV. Or you can catch our content simulcast on: The Grio, BingeNetworks, Local Now, Hero Go and Viva Live TV.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I take all of my good friends to classic Miami spots so they can see the real 305. And that starts with Versailles, the classic and iconic Cuban restaurant. It also includes stops at Ball and Chain on Calle Ocho, Palacio de Los Jugos, Key Biscayne, South Beach and the best pizza spot in Miami – Vice City Pizza in Kendall and West Kendall.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and mentorship I received throughout my career from multiple journalists and executives who are too many to name. Some who had an enormous impact during my early and formative years as a Latino journalist are Ramon Escobar, Senior VP at CNN along with Hugo Balta of the Latino News Network and Chicago Reporter and Bob Mayer, retired NBC6 anchor.
