We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ty, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk and simply just believing in my ideas wholeheartedly has been one of the most important factors that contributed to my success thus far. For me, it’s simply just doing what you say you need to do. You already came to the determination that the risk you’re considering is what’s best for you to do for your career, now it’s time to believe in it wholeheartedly and fully immerse yourself. One thing I did discover about risk taking and how it directly ties into creativity is that as humans, when we embrace new challenges, reach for new things that we consider is beyond our limitation, we tend to be more creative.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a black creative and I just love the art of filmmaking. What sets me apart is my ability to communicate and evoke emotion in every aspect of my film. With very minimal resources, I have the ability to make everything look and feel “rich”.
I got to where I’m at professionally by just doing the work. Applying myself and immersing myself fully into the craft, the business, and the process. It wasn’t easy but I learned to become very process driven and analyze things from the perspective of “What made this work?”. So in terms of filmmaking, shooting commercials and documentaries, I always ask myself what did I like most about a particular piece? and how did they achieve this particular result? What was the steps used, what was the angles, and just dive into every detail there is to look into when it comes to films and what I liked about them. From there, I apply what I learned to my workflow and do things accordingly to see how it fit.
A few lessons I learned is to always remain a student of the game and keep shooting. Get the reps in as much as you can and stay close to the fire.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im a very active guy so I love a good day a the park or the gym to get a great workout in. I’m also a fan for rooftop vibes and scenery so any American cuisine spot with rooftop access is a go-to for me. I love a good grilled chicken sandwich with a tequila & pineapple lol.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mentor Keith Norris, my family, and all my friends who been supporting me on this journey from the very beginning.
