We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristy Davenport and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My thoughts on risk taking is to first take a step back and process your life and where it currently is . The first thing to think about when you are in your process is to think about are you are happy with your life and can see yourself growing in the next years . Next question should be can you this risk jeopardize your past present or future in a negative way . The next most important question is do you have anything to loose . The final question that you should ask yourself in risk taking is this is something that want to fulfill in your lifetime . For you are only promised one life I will always encourage anyone to do what fills your heart . As a person who has been a caretaker for 10 years . I have witness in my life span of a woman in her early 30’s that life is not promised but it was you do in the life that you live . To make the best of it and to just live with a splash of logic .Make sure that before any risk taking to write out your pros and con. If the pro out weighs the cons then do it .

In my career of being a influencer and having a skincare I have had to make many risk . For in my time I was not only doing that but I was a full time caretaker. I am super blessed to have been place in that role as caretaker for it was for my best friend/grandmother & my mother . My grandmother was a fearless woman who encouraged me to take every risk , not never have fear as long as I have faith . With every brand deal or brand trip that I may have been nervous about she encouraged me to do it even though there were moments that were so rough in my personal life . Me taking a leap of faith every time has pushed me to be in the position that I am in now for that I am forever grateful

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative living in South Florida I am happy to remain my organic self . I believe that what sets me apart from other creatives is not being affected about what the world thinks of me . I was raised in away to only focus on my own path & that my time is my time . To celebrate anyone else accomplishments without being jealous of what is for me . I believe when you are creating it is important to maintain your individuality .

I believe the reason I am where I am today is because I kept going despise my circumstances . Also because I also have made time for myself mentally . Meaning in times of being a creative you also have to be very in tuned with your mind body and soul. It is important to listen to the needs of your body . So that when it is time to show up you can be the best version of yourself in anything that you do . In my journey I have made that my top priority .

The lessons that I have learned along the way is to really ground yourself. It is very important to have the right people around you when you are elevating . I also learned that there will be people that will not believe in your vision and that is okay . It is okay to have an a mentor to guide you in and to help you guide you in the journey . To also make time to put yourself in a space of like minded individuals. to keep your creativity flowing . There is this saying that my grandmother use to always tell me that really stuck with me . She would always tell me to keep my mind open when it comes to learning because you will never know everything . I am try to put that to my everyday life in everything that I do , especially in growing up in a melting pot of different cultures . The most beautiful part of living is learning and growing .

What I would love the world to know about me , I would love to know about me as a collective and with anything that I do , it comes from my heart . I am very passionate about make sure that it whatever project I attach myself to , it is something that represents me . Because of my process of life and the many phases that I have been through . I have designed my life to look at those chapters to help me mode me in into the woman that I am today . Every negative or positive point that has happen created a purpose or lesson that I needed to learn in that time .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is such an amazing city for it’s diversity . As a person that loves to exploring and trying different things . Usually in my friend group I am the one to curate the activity list when they come to visit. If my best friend was in town the first place we are going to visit if the weather is good is having a picnic at the sunflower field at Berry in Homestead . Then head to Schnelby Redland’s Winery for a wine tour . For lunch and good music I may either head to Dukunno Jamacian Kitchen or my favorite sushi place called Suviche in Midtown . If it is a Sunday I may head to Rise and toast to dance the night away or stop by the Sylvester . I love how Miami is constantly updating their restaurants and opportunities so one of the last days that she is her we would have to get a day pass at either the Mondrian or the Guitar Hard Rock for a fun and a relaxing time .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The narrative that it takes a village to raise a child is true . I could never be the person or be in the position that I am in without my community . I would first like to thank God for never giving up on me & giving me life .The special people that I hold dear to me for sticking it though with me even through my difficult times are my grandmother Christine for trusting me and always seeing my fullest potential in me even when I didn’t see it in myself .Thank you for helping be the strong resilient woman I am today .My grandmother Juanita for teaching me about boundaries and trusting myself . My grandfather Dee for aways seeing me as his little princess no matter how old I am. My mother and father Kim & Charles for teaching about patience and understanding the flow of the world . My close friends for being supportive and not judgmental through the different chapters of my life . I would also like thank Rodney for being there in high & low moments of my life . I thank him for being the logic of reason & teaching me so much of how powerful it is to use my voice . Last but not least I like to thank my god parents for being there and just loving me thank you for provide and extra support of safety in my life .
