We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylie Ota and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kylie, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Sometimes it’s hard being a life coach because everyone assumes your life is perfect. Totally not the case! In fact, it’s usually the opposite. A lot of people I’ve met in the industry started this journey similar to how I did – on a quest of personal development. We met a coach that changed our lives for the better, which inspired us to want to do it for others.
What should our readers know about your business?
I think what sets me apart is the different coaching modalities I have under my belt. I started this journey as a health coach, moved into business coaching, and did a bit of relationship coaching as well. Now I combine the different modalities under one umbrella to help women heal on a bunch of different levels, because how you do one thing is how you do everything. It’s very interesting to see how my clients goals intersect on different planes. With one client, we discovered that her health goal was the overarching goal that would allow her to achieve goals that she set in other parts of her life, such as relationships and finance.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my goodness! Disneyland is only about 40 minutes away so that is always on my list when friends come to visit! We’d for sure grab a churro, but my hidden treat at Disney is on Main Street – you can get Fritos covered in a chili cheese topping that really hits the spot. It’s quick and cheap, when you don’t have time (or the budget) for a full meal in the park. I also am a total foodie and, being Asian, I love Asian fusion. SoCal is the perfect spot for that because there’s so much Asian influence here. I would take them to my fave ramen, KBBQ, and sushi spots! Shout out to Kura Revolving Sushi and All That BBQ and their sister restaurant All That Shabu!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think the people who deserve the most credit for my life coaching career are my kids. We have been through tumultuous situations, including abuse and divorce, and as I was finding myself again, I realized that we all needed to heal together. As I became deeper entrenched in this work, I understood that this healing journey wasn’t just for me, or even for them, but it was a healing for the entire generational line.
