Meet Laetitia Chapelet | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laetitia Chapelet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laetitia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being artsy and creative came to me as natural as can be. Started drawing since I was in elementary school just anything fashion related then became more of a expressive art. Started drawing more of how I felt. It was a way for me to escape and and express myself! Few years later finding myself leaning more into the beauty world. Went to school for nail technician but didn’t go on that route. Found myself having a love and passion for makeup it felt more expressive and therapeutic. I feel helpful whenever I’m done with a client’s makeup and their face light up because they now feel confident and that is why I chose art, beauty!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Started doing make up professionally for about a year now and so far it’s been the most incredible experience ever. What are mostly proud of and excited about is just creating art and making people feel good, feel confident. My journey was not easy whatsoever it was hard starting up and having to learn everything from the ground up. Having to teach my saw everything I need to know to start a professionally I will not change it for the world but it was not easy. I’ve definitely learned that with ambition with faith and patience you will get where you want to go as long as you believe in yourself and you be patient what God has for you will happen eventually!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First off we would definitely go get brunch at bar rita which is in Fort Lauderdale. Then we definitely go to the art museum downtown Fort Lauderdale. The next day we would visit South Beach then stay there to tell them they don’t want at night we could go to a nice club maybe Live nightclub.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Saddly I owe it all to myself. Having nobody to support you when you’re starting out is tough and disappointing at times. You just need to know who you are, what you want out of life and never give up. If you don’t push yourself then who will?
