We had the good fortune of connecting with Lala J’zhane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lala, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I love this question-, because you know what’s funny is I’ve been a self-taught creative all my life. As a child,I wanted to be the next big thing on Disney channel. The thought of being able to be anyone I wanted to be, to be able to sing and dance and express myself in different characters and different hair makeup clothes & so forth was just life-changing. Not only did I think I could possibly be the black Hannah Montana I knew that I could be the one to create the real-life cheetah girls and take over the world all while creating and producing my own fashion line and magazine. You could just call me That’s so Cheetah Montana True jackson VP, Because i wanted to be a part of all things creative. ( I was such an ambitious 7 year old) Now I know you’re like “You said it was something funny” and the funny thing is I couldn’t sing as a child and I mean at all. As I grew up though I found myself still connected to the artistic creative world through my other loves. Even though singing wasn’t in my path, drama & dance kept me close to my big stage dreams and also kept me right in the fashion and beauty industry. Once I realized that people don’t know a good voice when they hear it I switched my focus. (In my head the girl sounds like the great Whitney Houston but nobody eles hears it.) By middle school, I was a beauty fashion girl. I got way into project runway america’s next top model The city The hills and shows like so. It was like the people who create the characters are the real artists and I saw that from the MUA to the hairstylist, creative directors and more and I needed to be a part of that. Through the years of middle-high school I kept my foot in the artistic world’s front door. From fashion blogs to doing rope twists everyday I came home from school I was bound to be creative. After high school I attended The Art Institute for fashion merchandising and that’s where I got the opportunity to work with Mercedes Benz fashion week and meet a lot of my dream designers, beauty vloggers moguls directors and that changed my life forever. I decided that week that I wanted a piece of it: all the hair, the makeup, the fashion, the creative directing I wanted to do and all. That was the birth of my all out foot pursuit in the artistic and creative career field. From there I was given so many different opportunities to work with celebrity stylists and models. To be an artist or creative is to be you, to be all the things that you want and to do them with confidence you are born with a lot of things, and you are born a lot of things and I was just born a creative it took a lot and I’m not quite where I see myself yet but the journey has been good to me. I wouldn’t change choosing to be an artist over anything else in the world. I live it, I breathe It.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others honestly is my dedication. I’m not rushing my craft. I’m not jumping head first into something I don’t see benefiting me in the long run. I don’t do things because it’s popular, I do it because it’s who I am. I’m not a pretend good person i’m good to everyone no matter the circumstance. I’ve had battles I’ve one and many I’ve lost but I continued to be creative and I continued to grow. I don’t do it for the money even though I love it. I do it because all i Know my life revolves around beauty, art , fashion & luxury things. It’s who I was before my soul knew where I would land. My brand is more than hair, it’s more than making up its life, a sisterhood, it’s being stronger than the biggest of battles. It’s still being whole when everyone thinks you should be broken. It’s fighting the fight doing everything you would do no matter the time limit. Oprah was 32 when she got her show there is always time you just have to take it and use it

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The city is always hot except when it’s cold lol then well it’s cold, But it’s so many places to visit here where I’m from in South Florida it really all depends on your vibe. My favorite thing to do is brunch and drink mimosas anywhere near the water. The best place for a great brunch and mimosa that’s gonna have you crawling on the floor, is Lona Cocina & Tequileria. The ambiance and the food is outstanding. They are located right across from Fort Lauderdale beach so imagine the view, and let’s not forget the price is super affordable for all you can eat brunch and unlimited mimosas. This place is going to knock you off your game for the day so a simple trip to wawa is what’s gonna happen for dinner. Idk about anybody else but Wawa has the best gas station food hands down in my area. My friends are like me so we gonna eat and we gonna drink and we gonna listen to rap music so our next stop is the crib of course lol where i’ll gone head and throw down my stuffed salmon (Recipe on my food page on instagram @eight2five.eats) btw. Honestly this trip would be about nothing but food and good vibes because our next stop would be my favorite place ever…..My cousins at We shukin in divin the broward location. They have the best yams hands-down better than your grandmothers guaranteed. The next few days would consist of you guessed it more drinks and food lol and where would we get them you asked? At my favorite asian latin infused restaurant on los olas blvd with a brilliant water view and yes you heard right Asian latin infused.. My favorite taco spot El guanaco and lastly back to crib for a Sunday dinner all cooked by me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I know people would usually use this time to say they wanna shoutout their mom or grandparents aunts and uncles, for taking them to art classes or paying for studio time, & thats sweet in all but ima be honest my family really dosen’t have a creative bone in they body so its not one of them. Although no one personal to me, There are so many things and people that have influenced me creatively over the years but the two people that really changed my life and really made wanna be as creative as can be as a child was Kimora Lee Simmons & Angela Simmons where like family to me growing up. Kimora & Angela did everything I wanted to do plus more. They made me see that I can be That’s so Cheetah Montana True jackson VP because they were out here doing it. Running businesses taking care of family modeling designing creative directing and more they lived the life I knew I was capable of getting. Although such a big impact in my younger years I was more influenced in my adult years honestly by my girlfrined @driplyfekg in these last 5 years. Although I have never stopped being creative she made me realize that I don’t have to be one style of creative I can be all the things I want to be and to just do it. I don’t think that I would have made the choice to jump out there with my business if it was not for her so she deserves all the shoutouts in the world. Shes my personally hype man my testing panel and my #1 supporter all around.
