We had the good fortune of connecting with Larry DJkatdaddy Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Larry DJkatdaddy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started this internet radio business back in 2012 my main goal was to provide a place for underground artists to showcase their talent without getting taxed so much meaning (spending a lot of cash). I had been around the music business for over 10 years ahead of me starting my business. I did many things from managing to promotion. However, one thing I have always seen was in this game it’s three things everyone loves someone new, it’s a big popularity contest and last but not least money talks. I wanted to eliminate these things. After all, I always had artists contacting me asking for help or a push because I have always been around the music scene. I am also a big fan of music especially underground music and this is who I cater to. Everything I do now from blogging, social media push, with my internet radio station and my magazine Underground Hip-Hop Magazine is dedicated to highlighting underground artists at an affordable price. My main goal is to get the music out to the people and let them enjoy it or skip it whatever happens lol!! but at least the artists that putting everything in their music knows it is getting out to the people. I remember seating with my brother that just passed away RIP Eric Harper I remember him asking me about my latest edition of the magazine and I told him and he said I going to check this out and every artist in it. That’s what I want all people to do and the numbers are showing. Don’t forget I am in the hottest market for music right now North Carolina is going crazy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is highlighting underground music you may see some mainstream artists but the focus is the underground from the cover of our magazine to our internet radio station we play and interview manly underground artists. The biggest thing I want the world to take from this story it’s not about me please check out all the artists that are rocking with me and get at them so they can reach their goals and dreams. I could care less about being seen I would rather fade to black but I am the public figure behind the brand so I have to be out in the eye.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my mother Kathy Marshall who is a big spiritual person but her prayers keep me going I cant forget about my brother and two sisters. I also want to shoutout all the artists and PR that’s putting faith in me to get their music out
