We had the good fortune of connecting with Dioscelam Letizia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dioscelam, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My passion for photography began, like many others, because of my children. When they were born I wanted to make sure I captured every single moment and memory. Time passes in the blink of an eye and they grow way too fast – I wanted to be able to look back on every detail. It wasn’t until I received my first “real” camera that I decided I could capture those special moments for others. What began as just a hobby for myself and taking photos for my friends, spiraled into learning all the things and continuing to improve so that I could provide the best service to others. I love capturing those priceless moments and connections for my clients to look back on for years to come. It’s able to take them back to a specific place and time in their life and I love being a small part of that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is photography and I’m immensely passionate about it. I think what sets me apart is my style, no two photographers are going to have the same exact style. My goal at every session is to capture the true connection between my clients, the raw moments. Families, motherhood and cake smashes are some of my favorite to capture. I want my clients to be able to look back at their photos and feel the emotions they felt at that very moment in time. Every session and client is different which makes it that much more special and exciting.
Starting my own business hasn’t come without its challenges, and a lot of time and dedication has to be invested into it but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am nowhere near where I’d like to be but I thoroughly am enjoying the process, learning and experiences that I’ve encountered along the way. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come this past year, the people I’ve met and can’t wait for what’s to come!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m incredibly grateful for my husband! He is my biggest supporter. He gifted me my first camera and everything I could possibly need to get started. Although he knows nothing about photography, he is extremely encouraging and gives me great advice and feedback! I wouldn’t be where I am without him. I’m also grateful for my family and friends for all their support and love.
