Meet Laura Ashley Todd | Caterer/Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Ashley Todd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura Ashley, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Laura: While working in a corporate environment, I felt there was a lack of creativity and accountability, which made the experience somewhat limiting for me. I believed I could bring more innovation and personal ownership to my work. The corporate structure seemed restrictive, and I wanted to add my own unique spin and creativity to the industry. Confident in my potential to succeed and driven by my passion, In 2015, I decided to take the risk of stepping out on my own and starting my own business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a chef with 18 years of experience, my goal is to set my company apart by breaking the mold and thinking beyond traditional catering. I want the food to be more than just a meal — it should be part of the show, creating a unique and memorable experience. Every dish should not only taste amazing but also reflect creativity and passion. I’m always looking to add whimsical, amusing touches — whether it’s mini cheeseburgers in paradise lounging on chairs or shrimp cocktail served in mini bathtubs. I want every event to be unforgettable and talked about for years to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My perfect Saturday with a friend would start at the West Palm Beach Green Market with coffee and a fresh pastry. Since 1995, the market has offered over 130 vendors right by the Intracoastal, showcasing the best local goods in Palm Beach.
Afterward, we’d head to Worth Avenue, famous for its Mediterranean-style charm and over 200 upscale boutiques — a must-see for shopping or just browsing.
For lunch, I’d take my friend to The Seafood Bar at The Breakers Hotel. With beautiful ocean views and a unique fish tank bar, it’s a dining experience that combines history and style. The Breakers opened in 1896 as a winter retreat for the Vanderbilt family.
To end the day, we’d tour the Flagler Museum, a stunning Gilded Age mansion built by Henry Flagler in just 13 months. At the time, it was the largest building in Florida and remains a Palm Beach landmark.
This itinerary highlights some of the most iconic and charming spots that make Palm Beach special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I had to give an industry shoutout, it would be to Kathy Molina Tyrell, owner of CBK Events. Anyone who knows Kathy knows she’s incredibly friendly and outgoing. She brought me to networking events early on and helped me understand the real value of building relationships and connections— not just with clients, but even with competitors.
