We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, why did you pursue a creative career?

I always grew up having dreams. I wanted to be an actress and a singer. I sang professional Opera and was in theatre productions all throughout high school, so It was very natural for me to pursue an artistic career in my 20s and do the damn thing! Before becoming an entrepreneur, I modeled, I acted, I sang, and I worked really hard at All of those various skills. All throughout this time I also started businesses and I’m so glad I did. Now I’m 34 and feel extremely professionally fulfilled from taking the risk of always doing my own thing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

So I have two uniquely different businesses that I’m involved in! One is a model management company, also called a mother agency called LRJ Management. I started this company when I was 24 and very much professionally modeling myself. I knew I wanted to mentor new models in the business and help them succeed and grow. 10 years later the company is listed on models.com which means we have ranking models within the industry. I keep things small, about 40 models total at any given time.

My other business is in a very different field, but you have to understand that I love to stay busy as a person! I was always fascinated by matchmakers and love gurus, dating coaches, you name it! When I turned 30, and stepped back from my own modeling and acting pursuits, I found I had a lot of time on my hands to dive into this new industry. I got jobs with some of the best matchmaking firms and learned the business. I dove into relationship books and learned from already established dating coaches. I really went for it and decided this was what I wanted to do! I also studied psychology at McGill University so this type of career was something I did always want one day.  4 years later, I work alongside a top matchmaking company and have a thriving dating coaching business of my own.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I moved to Delray Beach Florida about a year ago and absolutely love it! It’s a town in between Boca Raton and Palm Beach. Delray is awesome because it has less of a “scene” than Miami, but is still close enough to Miami that if you were craving that vibe you just hop in your car for 1 hour and poof you’re in Miami!

Atlantic Avenue in Delray is a must see, it has so many restaurants to choose from and just the best people. The beach here is also a hidden gem.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I definitely want to thank my parents for always believing in me and supporting my dreams !
