Meet Lauren Jane Clancy | Artist | Writer | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Jane Clancy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren Jane, why did you pursue a creative career?
There’s a passionate force within me that’s always needed to build, design, express and transform. Creativity has always been a compulsion for me, a natural extension of how I move through the world. Whether I’m painting, writing, cooking a beautiful meal, or building a business that’s never existed before, I’m constantly pulled toward creating something meaningful, something new. I’m fiercely drawn to ingenuity and reimagining what’s possible, taking ideas that might’ve been overlooked and shaping them in a way that feels fresh, resonant, alive.
For me, creativity isn’t limited to one medium, it’s a way of thinking and a way of living. I always tell people, especially those unsure of their path: just do something. Try anything. See what sparks joy, what makes you feel alive. That glimmer of passion will lead you forward, one door at a time, until suddenly, you’re standing on your path.
I’ve always painted, always written, always created. Very simply, it’s just who I am. And I believe we’re all creative beings at our core. Whether expressed artistically or in everyday problem-solving, creativity is the divine thread that connects us to ourselves and to each other.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is raw, visceral, and true reflection of self. It reflects not just what I’m experiencing in the moment, but the full spectrum of my life. At my core, I’m a truth seeker, and that resonance lives in everything I create, even when I’m experimenting with new mediums or venturing into unfamiliar territory.
How did I get to where I am professionally? By going for it. Whether it took years or came quickly, I’ve always believed in taking action, moving toward my goals instead of just thinking about them. “Walk swiftly in the direction of your dreams” has been a quiet mantra of mine for as long as I can remember. A reminder to keep going, with clarity, with urgency, and with trust. That willingness to act has opened doors, accelerated progress, and helped me gain traction in many of my endeavors. But no, none of it has been easy. Most of it has been grueling, filled with sacrifice, stress, and anxiety and even tears. There are trade-offs to building something meaningful. And honestly, I’m not someone who looks for the easy way out, I care about the truthful way forward.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned through my art is to stop caring so much about what people think. I used to worry, What if this gallery doesn’t like me? What if nobody likes my art? Now, I’m clear: if it resonates, great. If it doesn’t, I move on. I don’t take it personally. I let things flow in and out of my life as they’re meant to.
What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that there’s a common thread that runs through everything I create, whether it’s my abstract paintings, my memoir, or the yoga brand I’m reviving: it’s truth, it’s healing, and it’s becoming the most aligned version of ourselves possible.
I’m a cancer survivor. I’ve moved through heartbreak, betrayal, identity shifts, and rebirth. I use all of it, my lived experience, as material, as medicine, and as a way to heal both myself and others. Whether it’s through words, color, or whatever the medium, my mission is always the same: to awaken something real in the people who cross paths with my work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d start the day with a walk to South Pointe Pier, then a class at Beau Monde Pilates. Afterward, breakfast at the Four Seasons is a must as it’s always beautiful and relaxing. For brunch, we’d head to Soho House, then spend the afternoon at the beach or by the pool. If we’re in the mood for something light and nourishing, I love SunLife Organics or Under the Mango Tree for smoothies.
Shopping-wise, Jesse in Miami Beach and Frankie in Sunset Harbour are my favorite boutiques for elevated, effortless pieces. For something more fashion-y, we’d browse the Design District or Bal Harbour Shops.
I’ve never had a better facial than at Gee Beauty in sunset harbor so I highly recommend that.
For art, we’d visit the Pérez Art Museum, The Bass, and Mindy Solomon Gallery. I’d also take them to ARRAE Gallery and Aura Copeland Gallery, both of which I had the opportunity to show my work with this year.
When it comes to dinner, Contessa has the best spicy lobster capellini and it’s worth going back for. Walrus Rodeo offers a super creative menu with surprisingly reasonable prices. For something cozy but elevated with great cocktails, Intimo is a perfect pick. Carbone and Mila are scene staples. And if we time it right, a sunset cocktail at Smith & Wollensky is always magical.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people who deserve credit for shaping who I am, my incredibly supportive parents and grandparents, the richness of my early upbringing, and the friends who’ve stood by me through seasons of change, reinvention, and growth. I’m deeply grateful for the love and belief they’ve shown me.
I also want to acknowledge the ones who challenged me, the people who doubted me, dismissed my ideas, or tried to reduce me to something smaller than I was becoming. Their resistance cracked me open in ways I didn’t always understand at the time, but it forced me to rise, to rebuild, and to return to myself with more clarity and strength.
And perhaps most of all, I want to honor the version of myself who kept going, who sat in the discomfort, who kept creating in the face of uncertainty, who showed up again and again even when the path was unclear. She’s the reason I’m still here. She’s the quiet force behind everything I’ve built.
