We had the good fortune of connecting with Leo Cavada and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
One of the first thoughts I had, a thought that dominated my head when I decided to start my business, was way back in 2010 when the DJ/Pproducer and founder of the Eiffel 65 Gabry Ponte, contacted me to offer me a record deal. And the first moment I couldn’t believe that that was happening to me (lol) but then, that that day, after years of little giggs, live shows, small concerts, talent shows and singing competitions, I understood that that one could become my job, that literally was the proof confirming that I could become a successful artist and music producer. One day I realized that if I believed in it, HARDER, and worked even harder than before without quitting a day, I would become someone in the music industry. I still remember that day, March 6th 2010
I still got goosebumps thinking about it
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Let me start with the lesson I’ve learned. In my past life, I’ve been rude arrogant in a little bit cocky, I have to admit it.
Buddhism saved my life, adopt me how to be humble, strong, positive and hard to beat..
Now, all my art, my lyrics, my Melodies and all my music in general my music revolve around this.
After years of struggle looking for my niche, five years ago, I finally found it, I was born in Brazil, then grew up in Eataly before moving all around the world, I’ve been American “naturalized” so speaking with my manager, I realized that my music had to be a mix between those worlds, Italy, Brazil and USA, so I created a mix between R&B, Reggaeton, Pop, Dance and electro music and today I can sai that I’m very proud of myself and of all the work and the process I’ve been through.
It was easy? Oh hell no, it always been hard and challenging but like I said I never gave up, I never had a plan B, I wanted to be an artist and meditation and my dedication to spirituality helped me a lot during the whole journey.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ll, being a chill/positive vibes homan, I’d say a cocktail at the Terras in Little Havana, a “touching” lunch in Grails Miami (I love their vibe and their energy), another drink (never enough 🤣) at the understory in little river and my favorite place…Serena rootftop in Miami Beach…that’s so good… Being a spiritual person my advice is to visit the Wat Buddharangsi Buddhist Temple, the Luna Bohemia, The Tu Vien Huong Hai monastery, damn that’s so many vining places to see 🤣
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well, the beginning of my success goes to Gabry Ponte of Eiffel 65 for giving me my first record deal. To this I must add my family and my daughters for always giving me the biggest support ever. I can considering myself, extremely lucky and blessed because normally when a child wants to pursue an artistic career, families rarely agree, on the contrary… Often relatives and friends try to change your life prospects. I have to dedicate this to my partner for giving me and still giving me the maximum support and help in every aspect of our life and my artistic career. My colleagues Luca “Skyline” Bandinelli and Jack Mazzoni.
Last but not least, I have to THANK ME, me and my tenacity, my effort and my hungryness, I have to thank myself for having had the strength to continue without giving up even in the hardest moments, even in the worst situations and in moments of great difficulty without stopping in the face of family bereavements, false friendships, people who they have always gone against me and despite the various vicissitudes of life, so YES, above all thanks to me too, I dedicate it to myself because I deserve it, I sacrificed all of myself and all of my life to pursue this goal.
