We had the good fortune of connecting with Liana Valente and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liana, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
If I could narrow down three habits/mindsets that have led me to where I am now, I would say: 1. Keeping a close connection with my mind, body, and spirit
Soon enough after meeting my husband I realized that he came from a family with a unique philosophy, very similar to mine. He and I are constantly motivating each other to be the best versions of ourselves. Most people might go through life with good values, but they don’t have an organized way of life from mind, body and spirit. I am also a true believer of karma, and I am always mindful about how my good actions will someday come back to me and my loved ones.
I truly believe that every day is the perfect day. Having a positive attitude has been one of the roots to my success and happiness. Being positive all the time is not an easy task, but I find it helpful to have a consistent and fulfilling morning routine to boost my positive energy. As soon as I wake up, before reaching for my phone, I open my eyes and make a prayer. I give thanks for everything I have around me while looking at the horizon from my terrace. After giving myself five minutes of gratitude and reflection, I am ready to start my day. It is important to find your place of peace and balance everyday to help you to get centered.
2. Not setting limits to what I can do
I’ve realized that in my life, I’ve had various professions and roles other than Real Estate. I am and have been a wife, a mother, a designer, an artist, an investor, a columnist, an author, a sales advisor – you name it. Each and every one of these roles has taught me different things. As a wife, I’ve learned about constant teamwork, support, and growth. As a mother, I’ve learned to invest so much time and love into creating a positive energy and caring for someone. I’ve applied this same professional care and good energy when interacting with my clients, whether they are looking for a residential or commercial space. As a designer, I’ve learned to see the beauty in everything, express myself, and find moments of meditation when creating. Being an investor has taught me to follow my intuition, to be analytical, and to find opportunities to serve as a sales advisor to my clients today.
Another passion of mine is cooking and nutrition. I grew up seeing my mother cook for my family and have known for a long time how food can make a difference in how we feel. A few years ago, I took the role of a columnist, where I shared my passion for healthy cooking with my readers. I also created a recipe book along with my sister in law, which focused on having good nutrition that will keep you positive and active.
Through the years, I’ve learned to balance my time in a healthy manner to be able to fulfill all of these different roles. Being a wife, mother, and professional have taught me to be a truly caring and loving person – not only with others but also with myself.
3. Finding motivation in making a positive impact rather than making money
I feel like we currently live in a world where money is at the centerpoint of most peoples’ minds. I’ve found out that my true motivation in life is not rooted in money, but in making a positive impact in someone’s life. After becoming a wife and a mother, I learned how fulfilling it was to give so much of my energy into making a positive impact in someone’s life. My foundation of the way I deal with my clients comes from my ambition to help them and from my own experience when I myself was looking for a place here in Miami. Helping others has always been on the top of my priorities. Especially being a Real Estate agent, I feel that I have a great opportunity and task to provide a positive experience in my clients’ lives.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I feel sets me apart from many others working in real estate is that the effort that I put into my work is client satisfaction driven, not money driven. I feel most fulfilled when I know that I have made a positive impact in my clients’ lives and when I can perceive that they trust me. For many years, I’ve spent a lot of my personal time learning and understanding the market. I feel like I have great intuition when it comes to advising my clients on when to sell or when to make an investment. I truly put myself in my clients’ position and want them to make the best purchase. Transparency and honesty are the core of every relationship I have with my clients, and I consider myself to be trustworthy and professional.
My client doesn’t get a realtor only, they get the whole package of professionals that will guide them through the transaction. I have people in my team who can support my business like attorneys, title companies, lenders. I even work alongside a design team and filming crew for staging. Providing an experience where my clients feel safe, comprehended, and supported is my main goal.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that nothing is too easy in life. Regardless, I’ve learned through my challenges that there is nothing in life against us.
In fact, everything is for us.
For us to become better people
For us to overcome some fears and uncertainty
For us to overcome challenges
For us to have faith in God
For us to believe in ourselves
And for us to have faith that there is always a good outcome
Learning not to give up, to believe in yourself and in your power, and especially to not lose yourself when trying to reach your goals is what will get you to reach that dream that you want.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting me here in Miami, I’d give her a complete tour of the city for her to experience each of the city’s different areas. I feel like Miami is one of the trendiest cities in the U.S. right now and has so much to offer because of its variety in scenery and things to do. First off, I’d take my friend to the Design District and visit some of the many artsy cafes and restaurants. I love the Design District because of its light, airy and modern feel. It is filled with graffiti art, furniture shops, and art galleries. It definitely is a great spot for photos and discovery.
Then, I would take my friend to Miami Beach, so we can enjoy the sun, the water, and the happy atmosphere of the area. We could walk around for a while and visit any of the restaurants in the area.
Downtown/Midtown would also be in the to-do list of course. They have a completely different feel than the other parts of town. In these areas, we would probably shop, dine, go to museums, and if possible – go to a basketball game or a concert.
Finally, and most importantly, I’d take my friend to the Valente Brothers headquarters in North Miami Beach.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I’m grateful to God for my life and every opportunity that I’ve had in my path.
I would not be the person I am today without my family’s guidance and support. They have been the best role models – teaching me how to be a good person, how to work hard, and not to give up.
I’m also incredibly grateful for my husband, who has taught me a deeper life philosophy, how to look at situations from a positive perspective, and how to cope with any adversities in life.
Also a big shoutout and much gratitude to my first mentor, Monica Suleski, who was my role model of a hard-working professional.
Finally, I’d like to give a shout out to the book “The Fifth Agreement”, which taught me some of the greatest wisdom that I employ routinely until this day.
