We had the good fortune of connecting with Lile Koridze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lile, what’s your definition for success?
For me, success is not only about results or titles, although achievements in chess are important. I see success as continuous growth: improving as a player, learning from difficult games and pushing myself to become better every day.
At the same time, success also means being able to share my passion for chess with others. Through streaming and content creation, I can connect with people who love the game and inspire more players to get involved in chess.
If I am able to keep improving, enjoy the journey and positively impact the chess community, then I consider that real success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a professional chess player and Woman FIDE Master (WFM) and chess has been a central part of my life for many years. Competing in tournaments and constantly working to improve has taught me discipline, patience and resilience. Like many players, my journey in chess hasn’t always been easy – losses, difficult tournaments and challenges are part of the process — but those experiences are also what help you grow both as a player and as a person.
Alongside my competitive chess career, I have been streaming on Twitch for more than six years and creating chess content on my YouTube channel and social media platforms. Through streaming and content creation, I’ve been able to share my passion for chess with people from all over the world and build a community around the game.
What makes my work especially meaningful to me is combining professional play with content creation. I enjoy showing not only the competitive side of chess, but also its creativity, psychology and beauty.
One of my goals is to help make chess more accessible and exciting for new audiences, especially younger players and women who may be discovering the game for the first time. Chess is a lifelong journey of learning and being able to share that journey with others is something I’m very proud of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a close friend were visiting Tbilisi, I would definitely start by walking through the Old Town. The narrow streets, colorful balconies and historic architecture make it one of the most charming parts of the city. From there I’d take them to the Narikala Fortress for one of the best views over the city and the Mtkvari River.
I would also show them the famous Abanotubani Sulfur Baths, which are a unique part of Tbilisi’s culture and history. It’s a relaxing experience and something many visitors remember about the city.
For food, I’d introduce them to traditional Georgian cuisine—especially Khinkali and Khachapuri, which are some of the most beloved dishes in Georgia. In the evenings we would probably explore some cozy cafes or wine bars, since Georgia has a very rich wine culture.
I’d also recommend walking along Rustaveli Avenue, visiting museums or galleries and simply enjoying the city’s atmosphere. Tbilisi has a unique mix of history, culture and modern life and it’s a place where you can always discover something new.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family and the coaches who supported me throughout my chess journey. Becoming a titled chess player requires years of dedication, discipline and guidance and I was fortunate to have people who believed in me and encouraged me to keep improving.
I would also like to recognize the chess community itself. Chess is a global game that connects people from different cultures and backgrounds and the support from fellow players, organizers and fans has always been very motivating.
Finally, I appreciate the online chess community and viewers who follow my streams and content. Their enthusiasm and support inspire me to continue sharing my passion for chess and to help promote the game to a wider audience.
