We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Elisca and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I grew up an entrepreneurial family. As a little girl, I could my my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins had their own business. Throughout high school, my sister and I would travel to the Bahamas to bring goods to my mother to sell in the Bahamas. To answer your question, My thought process behind starting my own business was the freedom to make my own decisions, my desire to be creative, my passion to help and make women feel good about themselves, and my belief in myself.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a Medical Social Worker, I am currently working at the Emergency Room at night at a local hospital. During the day, I work at my hair salon. I just added real estate to my schedule. I have been asked every day, ” how do you do it Linda”, the answer is I love what I do. I am a licensed Cosmetologist for 27 years and I owned a hair salon prior in South Florida. Therefore, running a hair salon today, can be challenging due to fact that rent is more expensive and unable to find employees.
Today, social media plays a major role in marketing. At first, it was very challenging for me to get in front of a camera to talk about my business. However, I am still trying to overcome this challenge. The lessons that I’ve learn along the way, not to depend on certain family to support your business. Also, be sure to have money available to pay for the business until the business starts making money to supporting itself. I want the world to know they are looking at the next Millionaire.
My main focus now at the salon is Scalp Care and Medical wigs. Majority of women focus on the hair care and not pay attention to the scalp. Scalp care is extremely important, because the hair is growing out of the scalp. Without proper care, men and women will deal with hair loss and alopecia and etc. I am in the process of working on medical wigs for children. I am tired to seeing children wearing adult wigs. For someone who worked with children for 20 years, I understand what children go through when they look and dress different from the rest of the student, My mission is to make everyone my salon happy and build self confidence.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Bonita Springs near Naples, Florida. I would probably take my best friend to 5th Avenue in Naples for dinner and also to Mercato. Mercato has a variety of restaurants to select from.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, I would have to thank God for giving me the strengths, the energy, and good health every day to do what do. My parents play a major role in my life. Both my mother and father were very hard worker and always worked toward the well being of us, children. Most importantly, they are caring, loving, and very generous. I am so grateful for my parents contributions toward my educations and other aspects of my like.
I have to thank my husband, Mr Reed for his support, understanding specially when I decided to open L’Elite Hair & More Beauty Studio, LLC and the other two shopify stores, L’Elite Best and L’Elite Best Boutique.
Also Kishia, who flew from Washington DC to help with the Grand-opining and also my editor.
