We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Uribe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linda, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
One habit that I feel has truly helped me succeed is focus. In a world filled with endless distractions, focus is key. When you can zero in on what’s truly important and block out the noise, you set yourself up for success. You can be successful at anything if you simply focus.
Another important habit is to under-promise and over-deliver. Many people tend to do the opposite, but setting realistic expectations and then exceeding them can really set you apart. Being punctual and impeccable with your word also builds trust and reliability. These values are central to how I operate as an entrepreneur. They not only help me achieve my goals but also foster strong, lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Curated Space was founded out of a simple yet profound desire: to collaborate. Whether we are working on a real estate development project, a restaurant, a hotel, an exhibition, or a fashion related project, our focus is always on human interaction. We ask ourselves, “How does the project look once the doors are open? What makes people want to be there?” Creating that emotional connection is vital and often overlooked. It is the key to any business’s success.
As an entrepreneur, I have faced numerous challenges that at times left me feeling disheartened and completely shattered, but every time, I have rebuilt myself into a better version. It takes tremendous resilience. You have to train your brain to work for you, otherwise, your own fears will get in the way.
The project I am most proud of currently is IMAGINARI, a groundbreaking exhibition space that brings awareness to different environmental themes through art. We commission and purchase art from artists, coming very close to creating a circular economy that supports artists and highlights the importance of nature.
Through Curated Space, we strive to make a meaningful impact by focusing on the emotional connections and human interactions that make spaces come alive. This approach, coupled with resilience and a commitment to supporting creativity and the environment, sets us apart in the industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The perfect itinerary will strike a balance between iconic tourist attractions and local gems, ensuring a well-rounded and memorable experience.
First on our list is a meaningful visit to IMAGINARI, my favorite, of course! We’ll then explore some quintessential New York landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty, a leisurely walk-through Central Park, and a cultural deep dive at the MET. For an unforgettable dining experience, drinks at Bemelmans Bar, lunch at Balthazar, and dinner at Via Carota, there are endless delicious dining options. A visit to Little Italy and China Town. There is so much to do in New York.
A Broadway show is a must! A visit to MoMA specifically to see Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Taking a scenic walk along The High Line and Little Island will add a touch of nature, and so will venturing to the spectacular Botanical Gardens. Of course, a visit to Brooklyn to experience it’s vibrant neighborhoods, trendy eateries, and unique shops.
New York City offers no shortage of exciting and interesting places to check out, ensuring a week filled with unforgettable experiences. Oh! and let’s not forget Ahsley Longshore’s gallery in Soho, she is the best!!!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Eric Hadar has been both my guardian angel and greatest mentor. There simply isn’t anyone as brilliant as he is in business, always managing to find creative solutions for even the most complicated situations. It’s inspiring to see someone at his level lead with brilliance, heart, and kindness.
Additionally, the late legendary real estate developer Irwin Cohen provided me with priceless guidance. He taught me a principle I will always live by: “Be kind and find ways to make life better for others.” His wisdom and generosity have profoundly shaped my approach to both business and life. Both Eric and Irwin have been instrumental in my success, and I am deeply grateful for their love, support and mentorship.
And a special mention to Juan Perez Tabernero for always being a ray of sunshine on a rainy day!
