We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Francois and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
As I am going through the beginning stages of having a business and potentially turning my passion into a full-time career, I have now noticed now more than ever, why being myself is as equally as important as any skill I will acquire. Now and days, it is extremely easy to start any business that you’d like to start. Whether that is a cosmetics company, Forex group, and so many others, everyone has all the resources at hand to make it happen. And although it is amazing, it also means even more competition. What ultimately led me to start my own blog is the power of my individual voice and the unique perspective I can bring to my audience. While maneuvering through your career or business it is as important to know yourself as it is to know your audience. When you add a little bit of you everywhere you go, you leave an impact and are more likely to be remembered. In a sea of businesses such as your own, the most important lesson is to get to know you, what you like and dislike, what motivates you, what you have to bring to your audience or customers. After knowing yourself and showing up as that person, the trials and tribulation that comes with being a business owner will be a challenge you are more ready for then you know.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Power Room Mag is an expression of self-empowerment from myself, experts, and the women and men who read my blog weekly. We provide tips and insights on how to put yourself first to accomplish your goals, whether those goals are nutrition-based, physical, professional, academic, or mental. It is also an expression of art and fashion, with the belief that you can look your best while accomplishing the most. I am so proud of the community we’ve built so far. There are lots of challenges that I face both externally and internally. As I frequently write about in the blog, it’s about taking it one day at a time and shifting your focus on how you can be better today.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Sometimes the support that you need shockingly comes from people you barely know. When I started writing last year, it was all for fun and never to be published. I later met my life coach who I asked to give me an interview for a blog. Long story short, Khaja J., Life coach, choreographer and so much more is who pushed me and supported me through getting my blog out of my notebook and online. It’s been a rollercoaster I’d get on again over and over, and I have a fear of heights. I later that year read the book “You Are A Mogul” by Tiffany Pham and her story is one that continues to inspires my grind and hustle daily. In the book, Pham shares her own story towards her success but even more amazing, she shared her platform with many other women who also have a story of their own to be told. This kind of leadership and innovation is one that I strive to add to my own ventures. I highly recommend this piece to any women or men, who inspire to be MOGULS.
