Meet LISA HARRINGTON | Trauma Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with LISA HARRINGTON and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LISA, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a trauma therapist specializing in healing relational childhood trauma, my work creates a ripple effect of positive change expanding beyond my individual clients. Their healing changes the way they interpret and interact in their most intimate relationships with their partners, family, friends, coworkers, and beyond. The awareness and skills they develop bring them greater empowerment and self-nurturing. This provides them with a wider perspective to understand themselves and others which they can pass on from a genuinely compassionate place. It’s not uncommon for clients to mention both seeking and sparking deeper conversations as well as sharing lessons they’ve learned through therapy with others in turn helping cultivate connection and opportunities for growth and compassion in their community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Probably one of the best lessons I learned in business is how important authenticity is. Early on in my career, I was a generalist, working with all issues and ages. I also didn’t express much of my personality, in grad school being taught to be a blank slate. While I was able to still do good work, it wasn’t as fulfilling or successful honestly. The first company I opened closed within a year. After that, I deeply reflected and sought mentorship that changed the way I understood myself and my practice. I learned to give myself permission not to be a blank slate because none of us are. We’re humans, each with unique personalities and experiences. I leaned into this in my messaging and social media sharing what connected with me and the work I found meaningful. This resonated with people both amongst my peers and clients. I found that instead of searching for clients I was passionate about helping, my ideal clients were finding me. While the work itself is still challenging, it’s tremendously rewarding. I’m ever grateful for the path and people that led me to where I am today.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If someone were coming to visit from out of town there are a few places I’d love to share with them. The first would be Whiskey Creek Hideout in Dania Beach. It’s a quiet saltwater creek that runs parallel to the ocean with little sandbars. I used to go kayaking there several times a week when I first started kayaking during Covid. The park at Cato’s Bridge is another favorite because of the beautiful clear turquoise waters for snorkeling. For food, Stage Kitchen and Bar in Palm Beach Gardens is great as well as Paris in Town. It’s a small French café off of US1 that makes the best baked eggs and macarons.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my past mentors who helped me understand who I would best serve in my work as a therapist leading me to undergo many years of additional training focusing on trauma work. It has truly been an honor to do the work I do bearing witness to others change the trajectory of their lives.
