We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Hylton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has played a huge role in my entire life. I feel that as time as progressed I have upped the anti of risk that I have been willing to take. From Moving from Grand Cayman to college at the University of Georgia as school whose population is the size of my country to 3 years later moving to Boston to work for an international public accounting firm and adjust to a new way of life. Then 4 years later moving in LA – scared but knowing I needed to begin a new chapter. To 7 years later still in the City of LA – walking away from a six figure stable and “secure” job to pursue entrepreneurship – figuring out the path as I go.

My differentiator — My opportunities are focused on providing diversification in the world of commercial real estate investments and to enable every day people to invest in real estate without being landlords. Not everyone wants to manage real estate but you can still have all the benefits without adding more to you plate. My business is focused on helping retail investors access institutional quality assets.
I am most excited about the process of building this business. The process is beautiful – in the moment it does not feel that anything is happening but you keep building and sometimes you take a look back and realize wow all the time, connecting, helping is all paying off.
It has not been easy. Coaching has helped me and being around other people building has helped me to keep going and see things that I did not even think of doing. And I execute and do it.
Lessons learnt — Everything happens for a reason. Keep taking the next best step in each moment. Don’t take stuck in the past – your past or other people’s past – let go and keep going.
I want to world to know that it is critical to take action on your goals and dreams – investing, building a business or a career – the reality is things take time in life so get started. I want specifically people interested in real estate to know that you don’t have to be a landlord to invest in real estate – you can invest in high quality projects without landlord duties and benefit from tax benefits, passive income and build wealth through investing in real estate. I grew up around real estate – my father was a contractor that built 14 apartment units when I was a child. My parents vision and commitment to build this property helped my family when my father got sick when I was in elementary school and ultimately pass away by time I got to college. I bought my first place in my early 20s and sold the property at a lost 6 years later. I learnt alot about real estate first hand and it shaped my business today and how I approach investing – ensuring that properties cash flow inaddition to being able to appreciate in value.
