We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorane Rhoden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorane, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
This is a very important question as I feel entrepreneurs are faced with this daily. If there is something I constantly think about the minute I get up until I fall asleep, I know this is an idea worth pursuing. The know-how comes along naturally, the right people somehow enter my life to help me execute and things are just aligned! It’s a spark I can’t explain that comes from within. This is how I know I can’t give up. On the other hand, I usually give up after giving something a maximum of three failed attempts. This clearly indicates that it is not for me and that my efforts and energy are best suited elsewhere.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a Lifestyle Blogger for a decade as of September 2021. It has been an amazing experience and a true test of what faith, hard work and staying true to yourself can bring. The thing that sets me apart is though I now reside in Jamaica, I was able to make the cross over to the international market which required knowing the market and the audience I’m trying to reach and of course where they live.

As it relates to challenges, I am naturally a fighter and always see things through no matter how difficult things may get. If I need a few days or even a week to rest, I do that, then it’s back like I never left! Knowing when to take a break and when to push through are very important as they can literally make or break you.

The most important lesson I’ve learned thus far is to always, always trust my gut and listen to that inner voice that has never steered me wrong. People will come with a myriad of opinions and suggestions, but as long as I know who I am and where I want to be, nothing else really matters.

I want the world to know that my brand has allowed women to connect with each other, be more included in discussions and spaces that are male-dominated to “take up space” to have a strong voice, and live a life of purpose!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Upon arrival, the first stop would definitely be iHop at Miami Springs. I know it’s simple but it offers a variety of options on the menu and I want to keep things simple early on. After they have rested and settled in a bit, we would go to Bal Harbour Shops for a fun girls’ day of shopping. As they are ‘Island Girls”, they would enjoy a day at Bayside to take a Boat Tour of Celebrity homes then we would head over to Brickell for a quick lunch at Bakan. I would want them to check out the Fendi Cafe’ for Brunch and order a few Lattes to see their signature Fendi Logo so expertly sitting atop Oat Milk! We would head over to Wynwood to check out the Street Art and take a few photos. Somewhere in there, I would fit in a trip to ICA, Miami because who doesn’t love modern contemporary art, and with free admission, we are able to see as much as we like without that pressure. I enjoy shopping so I’m always at a mall like Aventura and somehow end up at 5 Guys grabbing a Burger. I also love live Caribbean music and food so one of my all-time favourite restaurants is Bahama Breeze!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out Brianna Barker @bloomwithbri for reaching the 10k milestone on Instagram and for taking the leap to being a full-time influencer! I know she will continue to grow and do amazing things!
