We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorena Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorena, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Netsaluti is a family-owned business and its stellar project is Netsaluti.com which was created with the purpose of providing both the general public and medical specialists, a space for functional medical (health) content, with current and updated information on diverse areas of medical and health research, novel treatments and information related to health in general. It has been a long process that has taken many years from its conceptualization to its development, and our purpose is to become a useful health tool for the Spanish speaking community in the US and around the world, it’s because of this that we have several expansion projects, introducing new elements and thus enabling and providing the Spanish speaking community more resources with the sole core purpose of expanding knowledge and delivering important health information to know your body and keep it active and healthy, information and that could potentially save thousands of lives!
This being said and given the fact that medicine and healthcare, in general, are constantly evolving with new findings, Netsaluti is also constantly evolving and adapting.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Like most businesses, Netsaluti has had its setbacks and obstacles, but as in life itself, we have to persevere get up, carry on and face the obstacles. There will always be a challenge, which is why we continue, working on new ideas, create content, include more and more people —and professionals—, who are collaborating and believe in our project. Since every person on the planet deserves quality healthcare and easily accessible healthcare information, it just makes sence and we have not encountered anything but support.
The best lesson I’ve learned with this project came from my parents, who have taught me that perseverance makes a difference and leads to success and that everything in life happens for a reason, if something doesn’t work, something’s not right, which means that changes must be made, that’s when you have to redirect the compass make improvements and continue the path until you reach your goal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would take them for an early morning walk and/or meditation on the Beach at Delray Beach, shortly after we would have breakfast at any of the local “holes on the wall” restaurants nearby, and then we would take the kids to Sugar Sand Park which has a huge playground for them to have fun and also an interactive science museum for them to explore. We would plan a visit to the Frost Science Museum down in Miami and later enjoy the many local amenities around Brickel. My husband would take my best friend’s husband up north to Sebastian for skydiving and then for Fish Tacos at Port Canaveral while my bestie and I go shopping at the Town Center in Boca Raton which is where we live. Then we would go for a walk at Mizner Park and maybe grab a bite. The next day we’d take them to Wellington and if it’s during the equestrian season we’ll definitely go to the horse jumping competitions and spend the day enjoying the show. Then we could go watch the sunset at the beach and end up the night having dinner at one of the many great places down Atlantic Avenue
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Netsaluti is a company that was founded many years ago, always learning and improving and getting better every day. There were a lot of people involved in the process at the beginning, most of them young with a lot of potential in their respective work fields. We know that each one of them did their part at the start of the company and we are very grateful to them for this, we know that they feel proud to have been a part of this.
To them, we say thank you!
I definitely need to thank my dad for believing in the project since it started, for all his love, support, mentorship, and encouragement, and just for being there every step of the way.
I am grateful for currently being able to work hand in hand with my husband with his unconditional love and support. He’s a physician, Dr. Carlos Porras and runs the content department with a team of other physicians and specialists collaborators.
